This is absolutely correct. This is very much a “when all you have is a hammer” problem.
Unless we manage to bottle up the best ballistic missile and drone program in the Middle East this isn’t something the military can solve.

Get out and write if off. This will not be much different from the quagmire of Iraq and Afghanistan.
No country on earth can square us up on conventional combat. Now the war is assymetrical and there’s where Iran thrives. We can’t effectively dig them out without spending tremendous numbers of lives and treasure.

I mean at least when Ole Miss tampered with that Clemson player they had the decency to ask the player in question what his buyout was (I suppose that meant they expected to pay it, which at least indemnifies the player).
