Very interesting idea.

The SEC is not really the SEC anymore and hasn't been now for some time.

True..

It now stands for the Southeastern Conglomeration.

But it'll probably be Miss St.

There is no way in hell we would leave. We are a charter member of the conference so the only way this would happen is if there was a total collapse of the conference as a whole.

Also, anyone who wants to leave a conference because “they want to win more” or “we are bigger brand than our conference” is just as ghey and fricking assholistic as ND. At some point a line has to be drawn on keeping college athletics tied to traditions and student education or else you just scrap university athletics all together and start a minor league program for each sport which would be ultra mega fricking stupid.

Longhorns (maybe). I do think they're the only school in the conference that could find real success as an independent

Texas doesn’t want independence. If they did they would have done it a long time ago. Texas wants partners (preferably including A&M and OU) that are like-minded state football schools, not small private schools (SWC), or Midwest basketball schools with 45,000 seat football stadiums (Big XII) which they have now found in the SEC.

South Carolina isn’t much known for winning football or basketball games but we can and will secede from any sort of conference or union. Done it before and will do it again.

Probably your best bet for competing for championships in the future. Take the same route as ND. We are entering a different era and Saban saw it coming.

The only chance of anyone leaving will be all the big schools together leaving the small schools behind to join the megaconference with the big schools from the B1G and ACC

It would have to be an expansion school. No charter member would leave.

Disagree....

Absolutely no one will leave this conference and the cash it currently provides. The new era of College Minor League Football is about money...period. Mizzou, though consistently finishing in the top half of the conference, realizes that consistently breaking through to the top and dominating in this conference is a stretch. We will be a perennial thorn, that plays spoiler, and will accept that as we cash in our checks. We will continue to make strong runs to finish at the top.

Many of the charter members whine about the "watering down" of our beloved conference, and the good ole days. If anyone left it would have to be a team with a Notre Dame complex of delusional self importance. You can all surmise whom that might be.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re waiting to see what happens with ND and their sweetheart deal with the CFP regarding their guaranteed spot if they’re in the top 12.

Where would they go next? Asking for a friend.

Because OU would follow the sips again. Weird relationship you two have. Everyone else with prior experience with the sips just wants to get away from them, but OU is always ready for a sweaty hate-frick.

I think Alabama would have better success as an independent. They have been a consistent national brand for multiple generations. Love em or hate em, you watch and cheer for or against them.

Texas is not on the same level.

Alabama vs Penn St
Texas vs Penn St
I would rather bama

Alabama vs Miami
Texas vs Miami

Alabama vs USC
Texas vs USC

The pattern here is one looks like a historically good matchup, the other looks like Texas playing someone.

Btw I hate Alabama

Damn dude, your girl BAS has really done a number on you.

Most of y’all flat-out don’t know what BAS is/means.
I keep seeing the concept tossed around incorrectly.
I love the SEC Shorts crew, but I blame them for this sudden trend of inaccuracy.

here's the thing jethrine, i've seen bama look pretty average over the years, i'm looking at you mike shula! frankly they looked pretty damn average saturday night. the refs gifted you a touchdown or else it would have been 28-0.

what a shocker you have a schity QB.

enjoy your loss to oklahoma, and you'll get em next year!

I'd get rid of them just because they're Texas. The school presidents/chancellors must have been shite-faced drunk when they admitted them. I'll never be okay with them being in the conference and I don't think anyone over 30 right now ever will. Their only hope is that over the next 15/20 years the younger generation forgets about what a fly-feeding pile of selfish, peanut-riddle dog shite they are.
