Sat next to an A&M grad at the Nats game the other day. He graduated last year and was at Tiger Stadium last year when they took over the house.
First, I thanked him for getting rid of Brian Kelly. Then I asked him if the military made an exception for A&M about the "don't ask don't tell" policy as gayness is already implied. Then I asked him how many cadets can do the elephant walk in a conga line and if he participated when they broke the record.
He started it by talking smack, as I was "all out" in LSU gear cause I wanted to get Crews autograph.

How does one wear a team? Is this an A&M thing?

If it’s an A&M shirt my initial reaction feels something like this:

When I see someone who clearly lives in Louisiana wearing Bama gear I always ask them what their connection to the State of Alabama is. More often than not it's none and they're one of those "life long" fans.....since 2008.
Then I know their closet is also probably full of Yankees, Patriots, Lakers, FSU stuff with a few 90's Bulls jerseys.
Internally I roll my eyes and move on.

I'll say their school's slogan to initiate conversation. War Eagle, go vols, hotty toddy, gig em in the aggie, etc.

I walked on an elevator with some guys with Tenn shirts. For about 12 floors, we discussed Lane and the upcoming games at OM and at Tenner. Good guys. They think the Kiffin saga is hilarious. Of course that was before Heupel and his fat arse mouth

Met a guy at the gym in Bama gear about 10 years ago. He said he was never into college football but decided to get in to it and picked Bama as his team bc they were the best. Orlando area. Guy was in his mid 20s. I didn’t even know what to say. At least he was honest. But totally shameless.

I was on a Missions trip in Haiti and was at the airport about to leave when I saw a man wearing a Florida Gator hat. I took off my LSU hat and went to him and opened with small talk. Then I looked at his hat and said, "Florida gators, hmm, Florida gators,... don't y'all have, like a girl's volleyball team or something". He looked at me stunned and then I put on my LSU hat and said, "SEC Fun baby!" and walked off. Later someone with me said there was a tall guy with a Florida hat looking for the guy with an LSU hat, but I never saw him again.

I met someone with a wku Hilltoppers shirt once. My guy taught me how to throw a football, shoot a basketball, make a sandwich, and tells me about all the good deals at Walmart and such.

I wouldn't say you have to go to that school or live in the state to be a "fan". But if you went to say, Western Illinois University and you are a fan of USC and try to talk trash to alumni of other programs, you just look stupid, in my opinion.
