Chad Morris. Dude is bad juju walking. Look at Auburn the last 5 years. Look at Clemson.

It isn't one singular event that caused the crash but many events over the previous decades that have caused it.

He was FOIA.

That revealed he was having an affair with a news anchor.

I really don't think Chad Morris was as bad as Jennings Whitworth, especially since Alabama even pre-Bear Bryant was far more storied than Arkansas is now.

Earl Brown at Auburn was also pretty godawful, although Auburn pre-Shug Jordan was not that storied of a program. (Save for the by then distant Mike Donahue days.)

1950 Auburn (Brown's 3rd and final year) is probably the single worst team in SEC history. That team went 0-10, including losses to Wofford and Southeastern Louisiana. Southeastern Louisiana went on to post a 2-3 conference record in something called the Gulf States Conference, while Wofford was in some conference that's so minor that there isn't even a Wikipedia article about their season. 1955 Alabama (Whitworth's first year) also went 0-10, but they didn't play any OOC patsies.

I think he was interviewed. But we were "too good" to give him a shot, given the fact he's only had one winning season in D1 football. I would've preferred him to Silverfield though.

Also, our fans bitched and moaned simply because his last name was Morris and apparently have a lot of PTSD, as if that somehow ties him to the stink of Chaggie.

He may be fools gold I get it but man the guy coached for 3 years in DFW, developed cam ward at Incarnate Word and way and you would have been buying both a coach and a QB with Drew mestemaker.

Seems like a no brainer to me between him and silverfield

ETA also I know that it is not popular with yall but is it a coincidence that the downslide happened with less emphasis on War Mermorial? I know the money is in NWA but if they don’t give and the Little Rock people with smaller pockets will give might be worth going back to a few games ther

I am from central Arkansas but frick the game at WMS. Nutt was good there. We haven't good there since. Coaches like Bielema openly expressed their disdain for it and most had shitty records there even when playing much inferior competition there. Yes, Stephens is a pretty big booster from the area. But the stadium is shite. The fans are trashy. The clock never works. They ran out of bottles of water at the last game IIRC. The bathrooms don't work half the time.

More importantly, we can't host recruits at that game. Couple that with (at the time) having an additional "home" game at Jerry World every other year for a decade against TAMU, you just gave up two true home games per season at that time. Home games need to be played at home.

Does Fayetteville not have a decent road system that ties into the interstate system?

Regardless, in today’s world there is no real difference between 4 hours or 6 hours. Or cross country. Distance doesn’t matter nearly as much as NIL.

And even if proximity did still matter you cannot use lack of available talent as an excuse when you have Dallas, Little Rock, Kansas City, Memphis and St. Louis that close.

I went to a Little Rock game against Ole Miss in 2018.

It was terrible.

The golf course was trashed.

They couldn't scan all the tickets so they let everyone in.

The restrooms had no toliet paper and no soap but sanitizer, plenty of whisky bottles.

Popcorn was cold. I couldn't find my seats because the numbers were faded. It was drizzle rain all game.

Arkansas had a big lead but blew it and I had a cold for two weeks.

I never went back.
