I said the day Petrino was fired that it was action of a Sun Belt program and showed we were not willing to compete at an SEC level. I was correct then. And it's still true today.

It is easy to dunk on Arky. But it really comes down to in state recruiting and supplementing with Texas talent. Nutt did a great job at this. Burt, Bobby, etc didn't understand their situation to sustain success.

There have been plenty that were interested but our current administration loves to go bargain shopping and not willing to pay what it takes to get the signatures on the contract. Our dumbass AD'S open disdain toward NIL hasn't helped either.
This is what I don't understand. Yurachek should have been let go along with Sam. You can't let him make the next hire. I think there's some corruption going on with the Board.
But they know the fanbase will keep showing up and supporting this garbage so they're under no pressure. Y'all need to stop supporting it. Y'all have the money and resources to be good now especially in todays era cfb. There's no excuse for it.

Arkansas was already at a recruiting disadvantage while in the SWC.
Getting players from Texas to Fayetteville was hard.
Fayetteville is not the end of the earth but you can see it from there.
Lou Holtz.

I had this idea in the back of my mind that Arkansas was tied to a bunch of money, like maybe through Wal-Mart or Tyson or Jerry Jones. But you'd think it would be showing by now in the current era.

Why are we wasting server space for a thread on Arkansas?

Being forced into an end-of-year "rivalry" with a non-SEC school, obviously

His forced retirement in 2007.
Arkansas got lucky with Petrino and would have been worse if Arkansas didn't hire him.

Another issue and should have had his replacement in the 90s with Terry Don Phillips who took the AD position at Clemson and hired Dabo.

His mouth got him fired.

Nutt became the first head coach since the 50s to survive back to back losing seasons.
Standards began to fall off then.
They should have hired Butch Davis in 2005.
SEC or national champs in 06 or 07.
We would have been a lot better off.

Alot of great points mentioned. I think the final straw was NIL. They dont have a commitment to football. They have big money boosters, just havent convinced them it is worth it to invest in the program.
Arkansas will never get a good coach until they commit to funding.

The boosters exist if the right person were to poke the tires. HY is NOT that guy.

This was what Frank was good at.

I can’t believe Dabo hired him as an OC this year
LSU and Georgia Southern each gave up 1 TD to Chad Morris to give his offense a total 2 on the season
eta - to the topic - Chad Morris killed Arkansas football - without question -

It was the wreck. The actual firing came later but that wreck forced the University to make the kind of decision that we always get wrong. Bobby would have accepted any punishment to remain our coach, but like always we made the wrong choice.

He was given an out and he refused to take it.
