WMS was the goat stadium in the 90s and 2000s.

My point is that the 4 hour circle has always been a problem for Arkansas when it comes to recruiting. When you're a mid tier program in the SEC who has now fallen to the absolute bottom, every single problem you have becomes magnified more and more the worse and worse your get.

Once their schedule wasn’t 9 horrible
Teams and Texas. So yes…once they left the ultra weak SWC. That and Wichita Stare stopped playing football. That was a sure win…especially the year after the plane crash.

Gundy would have been a home run hire.

His name was heating up. They hired the Bert and I was disappointed.

What about the current Oklahoma St HC? He was able to beat Oregon.

It was weak certainly in the 80s but not decades prior.

Their downfall was not joining the Big 12 when the Southwest Conference folded. Could have kicked Baylor out, maybe, for Arkansas instead. If they had fought hard to get in the south division of the Big 12, they literally could have taken Nebraska's spot in the annual turkey day game against OU, and it would have been a big deal for their recruiting, in my opinion. It would have become a natural rivalry game to look forward too. Not like the Red River shootout, but more like Texas vs A&M on Turkey day. And, more importantly TV sets in Texas would tune in for that game.

Nebraska would have thrown a major hissy fit over that but who cares. No foresight though on Arkansas part..

When Saban revived bama. Even though had good years after they were a threat to potentially win a sec championship (even though they didn’t) with just lsu and Auburn to compete with. But when Alabama got back to the top that posed to many obstacles. Arkansas used to start their western campaigns with big wins over us.

Arkansas then would have been a better fit in the Big 12 than the SEC.

Now they belong in the FCS.

The day they joined the SEC to be completely honest.

They were much more of a force in the SWC and getting all that exposure in Texas. They had a recruiting pipeline similar if not quite the same level as OU.

Times have changed though and you’d think some of that Walmart money could turn things around.

I think Sankey should get involved.

This years Arkansas team is going to be worse for the SEC than a couple of dropped NFL washouts.

The SEC brand value comes from the perception that SEC is a gauntlet that wears out teams, exposes the fraudsters, crowns the best and puts fear into the other conferences.

People in the other parts of the country used to see any win over SEC as a major test of team.

Coaches got worse and standards lowered as the years went by.

If Arkansas doesn't watch it, they could be left out of a super conference.
