It's Jimbo, plain and simple. He just is a very washed up coach stuck in many ways.
Imagine hiring Coach O after the 2020 or 2021 season because of the title in 2019.
That's what they did essentially with Jimbo. Ignored the obvious warning signs bc got lucky with a title (generational QB).

not saying Texas doesn't produce good football players, they absolutely do, but with the hype an average (at best) QB might be anointed as the second coming of Peyton Manning. And they get to school, with all this publicity, and turn out to be... an average QB.
I've heard the argument that an unknown poor kid from Mississippi has more undeveloped potential than a player who is a product of a big time high school.
I'm not sure how true that is but you hear it said.

Same problem all Texas schools have. The coaches do not run the program. Hell, SMU got the death penalty not because of coaches but the naughty 9 that ran the program including governor bill Clemens. When you have guys ponying up millions for facilities, players, coaches, they are gonna wanna have a say in what goes on and they are not “football” people. Same problem the cowboys have with jerry jones. The money that the ags and longhorns have access to actually hurts more than it helps.

Should've stayed in the Big 12. Path would've been easier.

This is absolutely the correct answer. The Aggies have plenty of talent and resources to compete with the big boys, but they completely whiffed on the most important piece - the head coach. Fisher was most likely on his way to getting fired at FSU when they inexplicably gave him a massive contract that is now an albatross around their neck.

aggy's main problem is their obsession with Texas. aggy truly has a loser mentality due to this obsession. Get rid of all that Texas envy stuff in their traditions and they could be in a better place.
But we know aggy won't do that. It's just who they are - losers.

Several reasons, but I'll name a couple signficant ones. The administration and fans. They have really good fans in person (not on the forums). Very nice and respectable, good to talk to. But you will notice their response to mediocrity and ineptitude is quite different than most SEC fans. Example: LSU blows a lead and loses. Go to the LSU Rant and other boards and the fans are melting and angry. ATM fans in their situation may be dissatisfied, but then go back to "cute trolling" of other fans. The passion for winning isn't there compared to other fan bases.
Their administration. Example: LSU fires Coach O not even 2 years after he wins a NC. LSU announced his firing after LSU defeated Florida. Do you think ATM would have fired him in this situation? Then non-LSU fans come on message boards trolling LSU firing Miles and O. Guess what... LSU fans don't care. We get another coach.

I posted this in another thread but since this one seems to be more active I'll do it again:
They get a lot of grief because they think they are something they are not. 5&7 has never won anything of any consequence, yet they act like they are playing for championships every year.
Here is a sampling of 5&7's series records against opponents they play on a regular basis, including UT and OU coming to the conference:
Alabama: 3-13
Arkansas: 35-42-3
LSU: 17-31-2
OU: 9-18
UT:37-75-5
That's a .348 winning percentage. WOW. Great batting average. Not so great for a "major" player in college football.

Now do Ole Miss, Miss St, Vandy, SC, Kentucky and Tenn vs those same teams.

How to fix program:
1. Hire new coach and assistants
2. Bring in cheerleader team (yes we have one)
3. Put the yell leaders in their place. Just call yells. No gay shite
4. Get rid of the DJ at the stadium
5. Have fans place their cell phones in pouches like at comedy events
6. Review all stupid traditions and. Eliminate the dumb ones
7. Fire Ross Byork

I'm so confused

There were warning signs with Jimbo at FSU but Jameis and Dalvin (plus playing in a much weaker conference) masked the OL issues. But still, I figured by now he would've at least won something at A&M. They've got the money, facilities, and fan support to match anyone in the country.

80 years of losing culture, weird fans, alumni, and administration. They also are universally hated across the country. Miami, and A&M have proven NIL money alone can’t win championships though and these “donors” and “collectives” are going to start tightening up at every major program including OU and Texas.

Before the SEC move, A&M was the program that cheaped out on everything from stadium, to practice facilities, to no-name coaches, with no-name staffs.
Isn’t A&M tied for most NCAA recruiting violations in the history of CFB?

The issue now is Jimbo.
You can have a handful of talented turds or mercenaries. But if you fill your roster with them, you get the culture rot that A&M is experiencing now.
Was happening at FSU but he left before it completely crashed.

you may not realize it but youve just pointed out exactly who you compare to in this conference, at least in football. pretty much every one of these teams is better than yall in baseball.
but that list is exactly where yall rank no matter how resilient your trolls and alters may be.
