No confrence expansion. BCS championship game. College game day in its peak and look at this list of coaches.
Nick Saban
Urban Meyer
Mark Richt
Steve Spurrier
Bobby Petrino
Gene Chizik
Les Miles
Dan Mullen
Houston Nutt
All of these coaches were household names. Will we ever see a period of time like this again?

2012 was the best in terms of quality of football being played.
Alabama
Georgia
LSU
Florida
South Carolina
Were all legit national title contenders. Plus Manziel winning the Heisman, James Franklin at Vandy and Mizzou wasn’t half bad, with a lot of the pieces that would go on to make them much more real contenders in 2013.

Sorry, tried looking it up and it said "year not found" in the database. Fairly certain everyone was on vacation that year.

Yea 2010 was peak sec football. Rode that high til the other schools complained so much they created the playoff system. This watered down the sec dominance by giving more of a platform to the less deserving trash conferences.

2006-2014 was the golden age of SEC football

Yep. Greg Sankey and big spending by the universities in Texas have ruined it

Eh you’re just saying that because Mississippi State was good in 2014. It’s 2006-2012.

This is great to see. I was told back in 2010-2013 that the SEC was way down because SC was competing...

2010 was awesome.
A young, energetic Mullen absolutely demolished Rich Rod in the gator bowl
I’ll probably never see state absolutely destroy a blue blood like that again. 52-14 arse kicking of Michigan

It’s absolutely 2012 over 2010. I question whether some of you know what “peak” means. The very next year after 2010 two SEC teams played in NCG, Arkansas was also a top 5 team. 2012 Bama wins the natty, lsu/uga/Texas am/Florida were also elite. Next year the streak is broken

How are y'all leaving out the 2 monster programs at LSU and Auburn in 2003/2004?

That 8-5 2003 egg that Auburn laid left a bit of stink.
It's why the 2004 team doesn't get the shine it should.

Bc 03 LSU was a split title and the SEC’s first since 98. USC/OU in 04 and USC/Texas in 05 were wire-to-wire top 2 teams. SEC (rightfully) wasn’t taken seriously as a true power until Florida demolished OSU

From December 1996 through January 1998, the SEC was 10-1 in Bowl Games. The sole loss was the National Championship game where Tennessee lost to Nebraska, and Florida won the National Championship over Florida State in that span.
This includes wins over:
Michigan
Florida State,
Notre Dame
Wisconsin
Penn State
Clemson (x2)
I say 1996-1997 was the SEC Peak.
Coaches were pretty good, too:
Gene Stallings
Steve Spurrier
Phil Fulmer
Tommy Tuberville
Terry Bowden
Jackie Sherrill
Danny Ford
