A German-Argentine team of paleontologists

quote:

This is why I laugh when people think the Soviets stood a chance against the US Army in 1945 in the usual "what ifs". The Germans were on the verge of collapse. No fuel, limited ammo, no air power, putting boys and old men at the front; yet, they killed the Russkies by the scads. What would the US Army do with its advanced artillery tactics, overwhelming air superiority, command and control, and massive material and logistics support do to the Red Army? Vaporize it.

I think most people realize if the US had thrown its full might at the Soviets we would likely win. The question/problem is did we have the stomach for it right after ending the largest and most bloody war we have ever fought. I highly doubt the American public would’ve been gung ho to fight the Soviets

It’s a lot different defending your capital city to the oncoming Russian hordes who are going to pillage your people vs sending Johnny from Omaha to the Russian steppes to fight
quote:

don't know if true and don't won't to find out but I've read in numerous places that they have to assume that position to strike and they're a bit clumsy in that position(no kickstand,) might be able to knock it over with the broom to buy you some time

Good point. Also they are probably even more clumsy in a house with wooden floors as opposed to a soft jungle environment. Maybe a knock down the stair case or something but as thick as they are I don’t know

Now, those spitting cobras would present some real problems.
quote:

Another loophole- I can't bring any weapons with me, but I bet I could find a broom or something in the house I could use as a snake stick.

Imagine opening up a random door and this fricker is staring you down and all you have is a dusty broom

King cobras are fricking huge
quote:

Change it to rattlesnakes and copperheads and I might be game. No fricking way with mambas and cobras. Them some ornery bastards.

Yea this and $250k and I’m more game. Rattlesnakes will alert you when you get close and copperheads while venomous aren’t gonna kill you.

A black mamba bite is going to kill you in a couple hours and king cobra maybe 3-4 hours
For 10k? Hell no

Needs to be a larger amount.

Rory is 19-14-5 in the Ryder cup

Seve was 20-12-5

CSB but one of my college roommates dad beat Seve in the last Ryder cup the US won on European soil

To answer the OP I think it’s Rory.

Tough choice. Caddyshack, Airplane, and I’ll throw one not mentioned yet grandmas boy
quote:

This is an absurd statement, he is 32 years old lol. Phil Mickelson won his first major at 33….

I agree Speith has been very off from being at the top, but he could certainly turn it back on at some point.

I think Spieth could win another Masters because it suits his game but I can’t see him winning another major outside of that.

The game has changed a lot since he dominated and I think it’s hurt him more than others.

Obviously he’s chased distance because the courses keep getting longer. The margins for him are just so damn thin now and he’s way too volatile to put together 4 great rounds at a major venue

I would love to be proven wrong because I like Spieth a lot due to being a similar age to him and what he did a decade ago but I just don’t see it. The fields are too deep and the game just favors a different style of golf now

I figured it would be.... I just thought it was funny.

Sadly in the first year of NIL it’s not incredibly far off.

Selmon and the AD have done a great job at fixing that though. We spent just under 13 on last years team and I’ve heard just north of 20 for the 2026 team. Selmon has been able to raise more money for athletics than any AD we’ve ever had which surprised the hell out of me.

The hole we have had to dig out of post the death of Mike Leach would be tough for any football program but especially us.

We will never be a top half of the SEC spender or compete for the playoff year in and year out but we have the ability to be a 5-8 win program that’s respectable. Hell, we were three plays away from going 8-4 last year

I think if Moscow falls, there is probably a coup against Stalin. No telling where things might have gone from there. The Battle of Moscow was a very close thing. It was probably the first battle turned by Lend-Lease: about 10% of the Soviet armor at Moscow was British.

That is a likely option as well. Stalin was incredibly paranoid about that. I do think people overestimate the shape of the German army outside of Moscow though. They were at the very end of a massively overstretched logistical train. Even without some of the British tanks there I think the soviets would still fend them off on their own.

Yea I think some British Matilda’s and valentines participated in the battle but the bigger impact was the actual raw materials we were sending them. 2nd part of your post is spot on as well. I remember reading that bit about how the soviets had virtually zero ability to refine the high octane fuel for their fighters.
quote:

Russia may have still defeated Germany- but had the U.S. not sent them tanks, trucks, weapons, medical equipment, and FOOD

I think it’s possible the soviets could’ve just kept evacuating east and held out long enough but they absolutely would not have been able to go on the offensive like they did without the massive amount of supplies we were sending them.

They would not have had the fuel, food or trucks to do so. Now, the Germans were stretched incredibly thin too and also had massive resource shortages so they wouldn’t have been able to crush them completely. Probably would’ve been an even nastier stalemate somewhere in Russia
quote:

Europe has never recovered.

And never will. Too many millions of prime aged men (18-25) died fighting those two wars.

6 majors

Trevino, Faldo, and Phil had 6.

7 gets to Snead, Sazazen, Vardon, Arnie.

Passes Byron Nelson, Seve and Brooks.

Who we gonna get from that era? Phil is unquestionably the #2 player of the Tiger era

I think it should be Phil I just don’t think Augusta will select him. Something about burned bridges and what not

We’re going straight from Nicklaus and Player to Tiger and Phil

I don’t think so on Phil.

Freddie may slide into that spot at some point

Cats are badass.

We had two cats and a German shepherd growing up. They got along just fine and my dad even liked the cats because they killed off the moles ruining his backyard.

I used to love watching them hunt in the woods by my house. Once you realize they are just miniature tigers they’re pretty cool critters.

I'm kind of shocked at this TBH. Like, really?

Another poster in the thread made a good point. They put just about anybody on the list that played 10+years. Obviously doesn’t mean they will ever make it but they at least get on the list.

I don’t mind it at all. It’s a cool thing for the players like Moreland to show their kids, grandkids etc
Being a state fan I’m a big fan of Mitch Moreland but in no way is he close to a HOF’er. I still think Will Clark should be in

I think it’s Rupp, Bear, Saban, Pat

I can hear an argument for Skip as well but I’d go those four

He's a tremendous recruiter. Now how much that means regarding NIL these days, I'm not sure

Relationships still matter to an extent. A lot of times the NIL offers are somewhat equal and then it comes down to preference and relationship with the staff which is a major strength for Stans
