I'll always respect what Gus did for AU. But his time was long past. It's the old "who moved my cheese?" situation. People thought UGA was insane to get rid of a coach that was wildly more successful than Gus, and look how that turned out. The problem is that the powers that be at AU can't stop tripping over their own dicks. AU is a place that you can win. Consider this:
Pat Dye- 11-1 1983, and 4 SEC championships
Bowden- 20-1-1 in his first 2 seasons
Tuberville- 33-5 in a three year stretch
Chizik 14-0 national title
Gus 12-2 national title runner up

So, the base is there and you can win big there as well, but something has to change with leadership.

I remember being incredibly pissed because some mouth-breathing journalist wrote an article about Alabama at that time, and it was something like, "an incredibly popular movie came out recently, and it turns out the main character was dead all along- opposite to Mike Dubose's Alabama team, which was left for dead and has been revived..." so I knew ahead of time.

Not to hijack, but here's another question: who all saw the twist coming in The Crying Game before it happened?

I think HBO just can't help themselves. See WATCHMEN- built around a race riot in Tulsa, while nothing was touched on regarding this in Alan Moore's OG series. It's like "let's do a take on Watchmen, but let's throw in racism because"

I will say that for me, personally, it seems like there was a year period of time where Prince, Glenn Frey, David Bowie, Tom Petty, and Merle Haggard all passed. I'm sure my memory is off and it was more than a calendar year, but it seems like it was just one gut punch after another from my childhood.

ETA- I looked it up. Petty died in 2017, but the other 4 died within 3 months of each other. Wow.

I'm old enough that I was there on opening night of Phantom Menace. I remember being a little disappointed, but overall entertained. The prequels got SO much hate. But 7-9 made them look like high art.

So much potential. The first trailer with someone in shadows in the snow igniting a lightsaber, and the return of Han and Chewbacca. Only to be profoundly bitter years later, and the the last 3 being the butt of jokes, It's almost like you'd have to go out of your way to screw the pooch as badly as they did.

This chick has terminal RBF.

Guy gets arrested in Philly. Has a HUGE house he inherited from his pornographer father. Chemicals in the basement, and videos of (so far) 2 missing women that are "graphic and dark" showing the missing women alive, then dead. Wow.
