Why do academics matter in an athletic conference? This shite should matter little to none when talking about college athletics.

And why wouldn’t Texas A&M University have wanted it?

I’m not 100% sure what you are asking.. but I think you are asking why A&M wouldn’t want Texas in the SEC? I think that answer is pretty clear.

Texas grads think the SEC is a bunch of dumb racist rednecks. Things have got to be pretty bad for them to ask the SEC for an invite.

Maybe I misread your post.
Time for me to shut it down tonight.

Umm there's about $140 million reason a year why the SEC wants this... Plus Texas and Oklahoma are leaving the Big 12. If they instead go to the B1G the SEC is playing catch-up with tv money again.

I’ve seen this $10M a year number thrown around this board quite a bit. Can someone explain to me how Texas and OU equate to $160M in increased revenue?

Aggies are so consumed with anger atm they can’t even attempt to troll LSU. I always thought they hated us. But now I see true hate.

You must be old like me. :)
I agree that some Texas folks do still have this thought process.. but the SEC’s academic reputation has also changed a little bit with the additions of A&M and Missouri, both AAU schools to go along with Vanderbilt & Florida. Maybe there is another i’m missing.

In the original Big 12, we had Texas, Nebraska, A&M, Kansas, Missouri & Iowa State as AAU members.. so yes, I believe that the SEC was looked down upon academically.. (not by me - just giving my viewpoint).. but again this has all changed.

SEC - 5 with Texas
Big 12 - 3 with Texas

The Big 12 as a whole currently gets well over 300 million in TV revenue a year. The LHN adds another $20+ million to the bill every year. Even if OU and Texas (like everyone in the SEC) gets say $60+ million a year there is still a lot of room for ESPN to pad the deal to remove the Big 12 deadweight and still come out ahead. The the mouse rules the sport.

When it leaked the steaming companies didn’t want to get into college football their complaint was the dead weight in conferences, and so it’s obvious ESPN has had the same thoughts.

They can prop up a super ACC to be a nest for Notre Dame in the new era, and then completely own football to the Rockies with the super SEC. The B1G makes some moves to almost catch up this cycle but they instead fall behind. Then ESPN has the PAC on the ropes, and can do some shite like just cherry-pick their Tier 1 for cheap.

You greatly overestimate the value Texas and OU bring because the SEC already has the State of Texas in its footprint.

You also are a naive fool if you think Texas has any intention of being an equal partner with anyone. If you think Texas wants to join the SEC to make everyone else money you know nothing about them.

The SEC has the best conference and more money than anyone already. Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered. You do not want to do business with Texas unless you want to get served up for dinner.

So much wrong with this statement.

What he means is that it's not about dollars and cents. It's about income and earnings.

It's way more than just a sports rivalry. Actually, it's not really a rivalry.

They are just a bunch of lying, double-dealing assholes who have deliberately attempted to stifle the very existence of any other institution within the state. They want to be the only show in town, and they play dirty to get it, whether it be sports, academics, research etc. Is there any doubt as to why they have wreck every conference they join? They want to be the Harlem Globetrotters in a conference full of Georgia Generals--fake games with pre-determined results.

And people wonder why we don't want to play these assholes.

State TV footprints as a media model are done. That was a cable TV revenue model, but in the streaming era not everyone wanting something to watch is subsidizing college football fans. Now the new metric will be intensity of fandom, aka how many people pay for the streaming bundle with your content. Borders no longer matter, just pure fanbase size.

The easiest are that you suck, are irrelevant and haven’t won anything in a long time, but moving to the SEC won’t help. Just ask aTm

I don't understand why the SEC would help Texas out of the burning building they're in in the BIG XII, especially when Texas poured the gasoline and lit the match. There's no amount of money worth allowing them to buy their way into the best conference on whom they have looked down from the beginning of college sports. Especially since they have ruined three conferences already. Sorry, cows but take your blood money elsewhere. There's no way Tejas should be allowed to just waltz into the SEC having done none of the heavy lifting to make it the best- they were merely raping the Midwest to line their pockets while the SEC had to battle to be crowned King of College Football.
Fnck that and Fnck them.
Fnck those cow worshipping piles of shite. If there was ever a time to BURY the horns it's now. Bury them and piss on their graves.
Horns down FOREVER.

Funny how many people don't know that we were all in the SEC precursor with all the charter members in the 1910s.

When we left to SEC instead of going tagging along with you guy to the Pac 12, our options were A) SEC or B) Pac-12, the fact the Big 12 survived was after Texas A&M moved, the dust settled and Texas decided not to move and dissolve the conference, OU just went along with Texas who is obviously the lead negotiator

Are we supposed to be impressed by that?

ESPN is about to pay the conference $20,000,000 per weekend.

We don’t need your money. And we already own the refs.
