First reason and I think this is the biggest when the Big 12 went to negotiate their tv rights a few months ago it went no where and stalled. Reasons being the acc already locked up by espn and the sec by espn . CBS did not want to pay anything for the sec anymore so they are a non factor . Fox was the big 12 50-50 partner with espn abc. With the sec and acc having most of not all of the college football big games that really didn’t leave any slots for the big 12 to be on espn. Fox knew this and basically low balled the Big 12.

Oklahoma brass hemmed and hawed for threeyears of getting 11 am prime time kickoffs with Fox. The straw that broke the camels back was when we asked for a time slot change for the current OU Nebraska 100 year anniversary of the game of the century and they declined it. Our commissioner said we all signed the same tv contracts. Basically as good as the big 12 was it was never going to be more than the 3rd best conference because of lack of big stadiums and 1-3 showdowns each year when Iowa state was great !

This isn’t about money as it’s it about future revenue imo. OU and Texas tier three right which were like 9 mil for OU and Texas 20 are not counted into our total revenue figures which at one time both schools were making more than sec members with all three tier counted. Once the sec network started that really set the two leagues apart and when I he bug 12 tried they were least late to the game. Ran out of ideas. The tornado boy other idea was raiding the arizona schools and they have such good ties to the pac-12 that wasn’t going to happen .

I understand why Texas and OU want to come to the SEC but there is no good reason why the SEC should want OU and Texas.

I think Oklahoma has a slightly better argument than Texas, but neither really make sense. This helps Texas off a sinking ship and Oklahoma is a feeble attempt to sweeten the pot.

The Big 12 is a shite conference. I know y'all defended its honor, or whatever, out of pride, blind fanhood, or outright stupidity, I don't know. But this ain't a surprise to anyone outside the Big 12. You don't have to convince us. We all already know.

Umm there's about $140 million reason a year why the SEC wants this... Plus Texas and Oklahoma are leaving the Big 12. If they instead go to the B1G the SEC is playing catch-up with tv money again.

Ahhh ... so now the SEC is a good move.
Y’all have been telling us differently for a decade; it’s tough to keep up.

Kinda like A&M, right? Except it was sued and maligned for doing what was in its best interest.

This isn’t the big 12. Don’t think you can walk in flashing money and get your way. The problems Texas brings to a conference isn’t worth 10M

SuperConferences were always inevitable. I just miss what college football used to be. It’s not the fault of any one school. It’s just the world we live.

These mega-conferences and NIL deals will absolutely make college football the NFL minor leagues. It is what it is. But I miss what college football has been.

Now get off my lawn

I am against this move. But I must say I am enjoying this Aggie meltdown immensely. I’ve never seen y’all so tense.

Just enjoying all the hypocrisy immensely. Some of y'all have really short memories and need to be reminded.

I have recently stated on this forum..
some Texas fans want the SEC..
some Texas fans want the B1G..
some Texas fans want the PAC..
etc etc
It’s a mixed bag. It truly is.

I have always said that I would prefer to play in the SEC, not only for football, but also for baseball.

By adding Texas & Oklahoma..

Texas would be in the same conference.. for the first time EVER.. with our 3 biggest historical rivals.

1) Oklahoma
2) Texas A&M
3) Arkansas

Perhaps you remember the topic I started..
Why wouldn’t a Texas fan want that? The academic folks want the PAC or B1G.. but that’s not me.

Remember all of the tortious interference claims?
It was something different daily.
Texas A&M was singlehandedly responsible for “letting” SEC coaches into our state (because they’d never been here before)
We were abandoning our roots and betraying Texas.
Ken Starr wanted our beating heart on a platter.

Suddenly, none of that’s true for other teams.

And why wouldn’t Texas A&M University have wanted it?
We were excoriated.

If you’re the exception, good on you.

Yet the OP stated that you have no real draw and that is the reason you are looking elsewhere.
