Player safety and fan safety have to be of the utmost importance and clearly people in purple / gold are in danger.
I’ve seen countless threats of violence on Ole Miss message boards and twitter. It’s honestly disturbing. Several unhinged noir videos involving firearms.. at some point common sense must prevail.

Wasn't there a time back in the 50s and maybe in the 60s where they played in Baton Rouge every year? I know I went to the 69 game where LSU got left out of possible national championship opportunity because Notre Dame decided to play post season and ND beat Texas in the Cotton Bowl and LSU was holding out for that and didn't get an invite anywhere. Paging Tiger_I59 to help me out here.

You are correct, Ole-Miss-LSU was played in Tiger Stadium nearly every year at least for a part of the Vaught era. Vaught's reasoning was that playing in BR would make more money for OM + he felt OM would win no matter where the game was played.
Sometime in the '60s, the game started being rotated. It got played in Jackson, not Oxford, in some years. I think one of those two tough losses to the Manning team was in Jackson. 26-23, I think. I vaguely remember a 6-6 tie that was also played in Jackson, where Vaught had OM kick a field goal late to tie instead of going for the win. McClendon lost that game in Jackson to the Manning team because he chose to go for the win instead of kicking a field goal to tie very late in the game.
This is all off the top of my head, but I think I got the gist of it mostly right.
