The SEC is basically just Alabama both historically and in the modern era. They've pretty much lapped everyone and it's not close.

Schools can fight for #2 if they want but they might as well be #14, Bama is so far ahead.

If only Rich Rod would have accepted the offer.

Playoff national championship is not a bowl game. The semi-finals is.

No shite, just like they didn’t have 2 Sugar Bowls when they added the 5th BCS game. NCAA counts the CFP championship as a bowl

The semi-finals is a bowl game.

It doesn't matter to me either way. It would add a bunch more for Alabama also. But it's not really a bowl game, and adding 2 per year doesn't really say much towards seasons of being bowl eligible, which is what the stat is usually in reference too.

You should email the NCAA and tell them to take the CFP stats out of their record book then

OP can not even get numbers correct.
Not sure how many numbers he got wrong but Florida has a not so good Bowl record of 24 - 21. OP put 21 wins so not sure any of his numbers are correct.

It definitely hurts us in the PR department, but only because we have been so dominant since the end of World War I. I'm fine with only counting "Poll Era" national championships which, using that metric, we have 12 overall.

Why? I doubt the NCAA gives a crap either way. Most of the records they keep are just whatever someone decides to put up there.

Whichever metric is used we still have the most. People bitch about the pre-poll era claims, yet nobody bats an eye at Michigan who claims 11 total and has only one poll era title in 1997

I say we continue to claim it forever since the 66 team got screwed. Let 'em hate, we have more no matter what criteria they use.
