I say we continue to claim it forever since the 66 team got screwed. Let 'em hate, we have more no matter what criteria they use

I'd rather claim neither. Yea, we got screwed in 66. But we werent the first or last team to get screwed. Wasnt the last time a Bama team got screwed by notre dame favoritism either. shite happens. Just stick to the 12 poll era titles and the 4 Rose Bowl years and I'd be more than content.

The SEC is basically just Alabama both historically and in the modern era. They've pretty much lapped everyone and it's not close. Schools can fight for #2 if they want but they might as well be #14, Bama is so far ahead.

Nah. Because nobody really gives a shite what happened in college football prior to 1980. You can hate it all you want but it’s a fact. That’s when it became an industry instead of a pastime.

Alabama has won just as many national championships post-1980 as they did pre-1980 when you only count titles awarded in the Poll Era.

Lol he didn't count on that one. They can use any measure they want to try to find an outcome where Bama isn't #1 by miles. They won't find one. Alabama is #1 by a huge gap by any measure.

I think since 1980, the closest team in terms of number of National Championships is Miami with 5(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Everyone who was alive for Ole Miss's magical run to the title in 1961 (62, 63 - which year is it that you claim?), upvote. Everyone else downvote.

If only Rich Rod would have accepted the offer.

If Nick didn't go to Baton Rouge LSU would be Ole Miss (1958). Worse actually. Ole Miss (1960) or UGA (1980)

NCAA counts the CFP championship as a bowl

When did this happen? It's not called a bowl game. Its call the CFB NC game...which the NCAA has nothing to do with.

Nick wanted the LSU job and got offered.

Bama offered RR and had Saban fall in their lap because he couldn't handle NFL players.

Not remotely the same. Your argument is comparable to Bear never leaving A&M.

You are correct. Since 1980:

Alabama - 6
Miami - 5
Florida - 3
Florida State - 3
LSU - 3
Nebraska - 3

Alabama only offered Rich Rodriguez because the administration had put tremendous pressure on Mal Moore to make a splash hire and many thought Rodriguez was a slam dunk while Saban was a pipe dream. Truth was, Moore did not want to offer Rodriguez and was holding out for the NFL season to end so he could talk to Saban. I think that's one of the reasons why he ended up staying at West Virginia because he could tell that Moore really didn't want to offer him the job.

Actually Alabama has more, but is humble and only claims 17 of them. Interesting item, everyone of Alabama's NC teams played in a bowl, not every team with NC can say that.
