The SEC is mad at CBS for calling out Alabama Favoritism

The tension between the SEC and CBS has not abated this season, by the way, either. Recently on the pregame show before the league’s game on CBS, analyst Brian Jones said he believed the SEC’s league office, which is based in Birmingham, might be biased in favor of Alabama and that was why LSU’s Devin White was suspended for targeting and Alabama’s players have not been.

Host Adam Zucker said as follows: “And it gets reviewed in Birmingham and you’re saying that you think there is more involved than just pure judgment that it was targeting?”

Brian Jones responded: “Well I see flags thrown on certain teams and I see them not thrown on certain teams,” Jones said. “And I’ll leave it at that.”

That’s a pretty blockbuster accusation from the league’s TV partner, that the league is conspiring to favor Alabama. The fact that it aired on CBS left SEC officials furious. It’s one thing when fan message boards light up with accusations that a conference favors one team or another, it’s a different level entirely when the league’s own TV partner says it as part of the league’s pregame telecast.

Oh and it's not just the targeting. Just last year Alabama scores a TD and wins by 7 thanks to this Ridley catch when he stepped OOB.

And of course that's just another of many examples Alabama uses to win close games. The SEC Officials blantly favor Alabama in football games and instead of the SEC denying it, they're just upset that they are being called out on it. The Billboards may not fix the short term issue, but it has changed public perception to the reality of the situation.

Bama had a player throw 3 punches at an opposing player caught on live TV and replayed several times after the incident.

I mean.....if the SEC office isn't going to do anything about that, it seems pretty clear.

LSU 30
Alabama 27
GEAUX TIGERS!

Bama will be exposed Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. Arkansas scored 31 points on Bama. Arkansas. Think about that. Bama beat only one ranked team this year. When you have a weak schedule then the stats are always distorted.

Even the “eye test” can deceive you because you are playing weak teams so it looks good visually.

Most of the players with Bama now have never played LSU at night in Tiger Stadium. LSU has defeated 3 teams in the top 10 this year, including #2 Georgia. LSU dominated Georgia.

Bama will be exposed.

It's pretty comical at this point the Bama responses that you see regarding a post like this. I still haven't found a single response from a Bama poster that actually addresses the specific instances described (like above). It's nothing but $hitposts of penalty statistics, tinfoil hat accusations, and personal attacks. I guess the conversation will not happen with them because they don't have any real ground to stand on. Hence all the deflecting and anger.

So did they rule that Ridley had been pushed out by the defender? Surely, the refs didn't just miss that???

A lot of this is overblown, but you'd have to be extremely dishonest and intentionally obtuse to not see the office of a billion dollar business being located in Birmingham, in the backyard of one program, is a joke.

Right in the middle of SEC country. It's a conspiracy! Why isn't it in Alaska?

Literally, the dumbest fanbase I've ever interacted with.

My point exactly... This is the exact type of response that Bama fans have to post, because they have no real grounds for a response.

Put ridiculous words into the mouth of the OP and generalize an entire fanbase and call names. Spot on.

Bunch of sensitive gumps about to flood you with down votes. Begs the question, if they didn't think it was true, why are they so sensitive when it gets brought up.

If they truly think everything is on the up and up, they'd support the SEC bringing in totally new blood with zero SEC affiliation to handle all the scheduling, and all the officiating in conference. But they don't want that bc the two guys in charge of those things are both UA alums.

Where should the league office be located? New York City?
