an Alabama player cold cocked one of his players
He didn't just cold-cock him, he ended his career on a hit after the fair catch signal.
That kid was never able to play football again.
quote:
After a Tech punt, Alabama fair-caught the ball. Chick Granning of Tech was playing coverage and relaxed after the signal for the fair catch. Darwin Holt of Alabama continued play and smashed his elbow into Granning's face causing severe fracturing in his face, a broken nose, and blood-filled sinuses. Granning was knocked unconscious and suffered a severe concussion, the result of which left him unable to play football ever again.
Pretty funny, huh?
Yeah, now tell us about how Tua's knee isn't fair game and we'll laugh with you.
Dodd took Tech out of the conference because Alabama was out of control.

Too bad the SEC wasn't in Alabama's back pocket back in 2004 when LSU defender Corey Webster pushed Keith Brown to the ground, intercepted the ball and returned it to the LSU 44 - ending Alabama’s scoring chance and seizing the momentum in a game the Tide seemed ready to steal away.

shite, we went an entire season without having holding called against our opponents even one time
You've also gone entire seasons without a single holding call called on you

Now please, move the goalposts again.
how did I move the goalposts?

It has been posted on this board, multiple times, that Alabama has the least holding calls made against it’s opponents of any team in the nation.
This year only? Sounds like a great sample size you're relying on
It also shouldn't be difficult for you to provide a link to that stat

Jesus, y'all STILL whining about that phantom no-call?
You should've been in Tiger Stadium in 2000 when the refs were straight up awarding the ball to Alabama after LSU fair caught the Alabama punt. I mean, that wasn't even a judgment call, just straight up, "First down, Alabama."
Needless to say, Saban went APESHIT when he saw how the refs treated Alabama in that game.

Here's a stat twist for you... Joe Burrow is a worse QB than Anthony Jennings. The numbers don't lie. He's worse. You can't argue the stats! Because if you state that the stats are not indicative of the truth, you're a liar!
Or...... You can actually watch the players play, and realize that Burrow's play is far superior, not because his stat lines suggest so, but because he makes far better decisions for the team and makes plays and WINS GAMES.
You can't always PROVE something with stats. I get frustrated with this reliance on STATS to be PROOF of a narrative, when it is just a talking point. I am not saying that your stats are wrong. I agree with the statistical measures that were recorded and the parameters set to record them. Do they tell the entire story? Of course not.

We need more measures against corruption in this league. It starts with moving the officiating offices out of Birmingham.

The old saying is don't put yourself in a position to be accused. When your biggest program is right down the road and people in the SEC office went to Bama...go to church with Bama boosters...send their kids to the same schools....eat at the same restaurants...shop at the same stores and belong to the same country clubs as Bama boosters then you're going to be accused. Right or wrong the SEC office should be in a more neutral site.

[quote]A lot of this is overblown, but you'd have to be extremely dishonest and intentionally obtuse to not see the office of a billion dollar business being located in Birmingham, in the backyard of one program, is a joke. /quote]

It’s called regulatory capture. Look how many former NCAA employees work in compliance at Alabama. Why bite the hand that will feed you down the road ?
The SEC doesn’t want to have the Bama gravy train dry up so they help out where they can. Has Sankey done anything to conference top to bottom or is he just concerned
with getting Bama in the playoffs ?

That is not said on CBS if not for the #freedevinwhite billboard. The billboards have voice to what everyone was thinking.

So, this cheap shot didn't garner a suspension from the SEC office, but accepted one that Les Miles gave?
Blashpemy! Only Bama gets treated nicely by the SEC office.

Suspended a whole game. =/= half a game. You could argue it's because LSU's game was almost over, but the Bama/Mizzou game was also in the 4th quarter.

Dodd ran while he could since he couldn't beat Bama and then later admitted it was a huge mistake. It was and now GT is irrelevant as far as CFB and sports in general. And it has cost the school as an institution in a fashion that is hard to calculate.

Yes Sankey wants his schools in the big event. After all they hired him and pay him to help get them there. And he is quite popular with his employers which are the schools.
