You nailed it! Yet there will be people on here that won’t accept the fact that JJ isn’t a very good pitching coach, but they will overlook that for the ‘23 season run we had to the Supers. From calling pitches, 0-2 counts for extra base hits, over-working guys like Meyers and Ozmer in midweek games then wondering why neither performed well down the stretch. Big decision for Vaughn coming up. Due you keep JJ and tighten the reigns on him or cut him loose and move to someone else.
Only questions I have are about LG and RT. I have no other concerns as far as QB play goes. I feel as though Simpson will play loose and confident, but should he struggle, I wouldn’t be surprised if Russell didn’t come in and make plays. Grubb calling plays instead of Sheridan should help as well.
Ozmer was where the last 4 years? Not in Tuscaloosa under JJ’s tutelage!
And I had people ask why I thought JJ did a poor job of developing pitchers. We don’t hit spots, looks like we don’t even try. Just throw it near the plate and take our chances! Everyone throws 90+ now, so location and movement are a must. Outside of Quick, we really don’t get either from anyone else.
I think it’s the lack of development by JJ to be honest.
2 innnings of work 26 pitches 6 batters faced with 3 Ks.
It’s more of JJ being too hard headed in some instances when it comes to bullpen guys. This guy gets a longer leash, while others don’t. Disappointed that JJ hasn’t developed the arms we have on staff. Just my opinion, but I felt he should’ve went with Myers in the 8th, since his previous inning had been clean. Bring Ozmer in only if needed. Burning your closer for 2 innings in a 7 run game wasn’t very wise.
Kevin Turner for me. KT was a teammate of mine during my time as a walk on. Dude was pound for pound the strongest and toughest guy I had ever been around.
When he passed from ALS years later, I had my wife and kids at Disney when I got the notification from ESPN.
When Coach Stallings came to T’town in Jan of ‘90, I was a walk on QB. Coach Moore made no bones about it, that he didn’t have time nor did he want to take time with any walk ons, so he sent me to Coach Oliver to throw for his DBs. To this day, my shoulder grinds anytime I make any movement that resembles a throwing motion. I joked with George Teague and a few others that “it was me that was responsible for making them all such great DBs!” Hell! All of the picks I used to throw them all!! ??
RIP Coach Oliver
All things considered, injuries to Wrightsell and then Mallett, an Elite 8 run would be a successful season.
My bracket has BAMA over Michigan St for it all!
Rolling a snap back to the QB, firing it left or right, shin high or head high, whether it was on time or premature. Like several stated before, it became mental with him, like a golfer or a pitcher in the MLBs that loses command, like a Rick Ankiel back in the day for the Cardinals.

“Over the years” for other programs compared to “fast approaching 30 arrests in the last 18 months” is a HUGE difference!!
Kirby has a culture going on over there and it ain’t good!!

I played at Legion Field twice, in the old Dental Clinic Classics that used to be held back in the 70’s thru mid 90’s. I played there in ‘87 and ‘88. That old turf reminded me of an asphalt parking lot painted green!!

I don’t know the answer to that one. I had some of my former players and some friends to go last night and they just commented about using the shuttle. I work nights and will be unable to go tomorrow night, so I didn’t even bother to ask.

Parking is extremely limited over there. So for the Barons game last night, they were running shuttles from Legion Field over to Rickwood! Neither place is known as a Better Homes & Gardens neighborhood!
Super Regionals, not CWS but I’ll watch because I’m a college baseball junky!!
