He won 2 nattys.
95% of this conference hasn’t done that.

Coaches have a shelf life and Dabo is about to expire. That doesmt take away the fact that he was the second best coach in the country for almost a decade and if it wasnt for Saban, Dabo probably has 4 titles.
Hes annoying as frick but hes also a hall of famer and one of the best motivators Ive seen in this sport

Kirby slowly squeezed him out of Georgia HSs, Richt let him take too many homegrown blue chips

Have you ever played a sport, you sound like a guy that’s never played a sport

Losing his sign-stealing DC didn't help him either

That has got to be the ugliest church I've ever seen
It looks like it used to be a cell phone store.

The rise of Kirby Smart UGA and UT’s recovery altered their recruiting landscape. Transfer portal and NIL exacerbated the problem.

I don't think this gets enough mention.
There's a lot of great players in the South, but it's still a limited amount. If Georgia gets who they should instate, that leaves a group that can go elsewhere. You have Auburn for a large bit, then about 1 team's worth. It was Tennessee awhile. Then it was Clemson. Now, it's trending back to Tennessee.
This is different from, say, Florida, which can usually fill UF, Miami and Fla State, and have others left over to go out of state. Or Texas, which fills UT, A&M, another instate program or 2, then Oklahoma and Arkansas (with the Houston area kids looking at LSU).
Or Louisiana, which fills LSU, and LSU then picking from the I-10 corridor from Houston to the Fla Panhandle.
Clemson is not in the epicenter of any recruiting hotbed. They NEED to score big in OOS recruiting just to build the base of the program.
Alabama's weird, in that I don't think they really have a big hotbed area internally, but it's good... and they're on the border of the La, Ga and Fla ones, so they can always grab a couple from there.

quote:Wrong. Dabo was using 2 megachurches in the upstate to give players parents jobs and housing. The members were providing jobs.It wasn't against NCAA rules to hire parents but the kids they wanted also wanted to take care of their parents or their moms in a lot of cases. The NIL squashed that and now Dabo and clemsux have compete on a different level and it is not working.
Maybe luck, maybe Alabama and Georgia’s rosters were so full in the south.

Don’t forget they got caught red handed juicing with Ostarine.
They were paying players.
Stealing signs. (Confirmed)
Juicing
Playing in the ACC.
It’s now over and Clemson owes him $57M this year and $60M next year.

Aside from the generational offensive talent, he had Venables running the defense. That’s why they could do what they did in the playoffs.

He absolutely had a pipeline... particularly in N Georgia.

Clemson in 2018 had one of the best d lines in CFB history and one of the best DCs in the game.
T Law and Watson and Boyd all played their part, but damn if they were lint studs on defense too
