Completed I. Second viewing.
Question: Why does Billy lie about the paper at the end of the episode? I’ve never quite understood his motive there....

re: Maine joins unConstitutional National Popular Vote states
Posted by bluestem75 on 4/17/24 at 10:21 am
It’s unconstitutional because it invalidates the election results within the state’s own borders. Why bother even having an election if the electors are going to throw out those results in an effort to award votes to a different candidate that more people voted for in other states? That would be lik...

We should go back to bonds. Government proposes a program and asks for bonds. You want to support it, you buy a bond. You don’t, then you don’t have to. Programs the people want get paid for. The ones they don’t, don’t....
re: Ripley Netflix

I was excited about this until I realized it was a remake. I thought it was going to follow one of the other Ripley books.
I thought the first episode was slow and boring....

Pretty sad that the only way Democrats can win is by making abortion an issue....
re: Question for people that have watched Dune I and II, but haven't read the books.

Never read the books. Wasn’t lost at all. I think the new movies do a great job of adapting a sprawling, difficult book into easily digestible pieces for a movie audience.
Never watched the 84 version because it’s so campy bad. I didn’t feel like those films took the material seriously in the way...
re: Arizona abortion ruling, which Democrats decry, splits Republicans and abortion opponents
What am I missing here. The top 3 issues voters care about DWARF abortion. Look I admire the Dems for finding ways to get out the vote, but they are bleeding votes elsewhere and if abortion was issue #1 Biden would be ahead in the polling. Real world pain economic pain is going to GOTV and a...

Savannah & Tybee Island are great.
Check out The Crab Shack on Tybee. Great low country boil. Get everything except the crawfish.
The beach is huge but low key.
There’s great shopping and dining in Savannah. The ghost tour was a lot of fun. There’s some really cool graveyards.
It’s New...
re: What happened to the Democrats that made them the new fascists?
Posted by bluestem75 on 3/29/24 at 1:17 pm
They vowed never to lose control again after getting hammered in 1994. That’s why 2000, 2002, and 2016 riles them up so much.
They think they shouldn’t have to meet the needs of the voters; the voters should just give them power because their causes are “on the right side of history.”...

Oh, and how are all those ghost cities doing that were built under your leadership?...
re: Does Anyone Think This MSNBC Ronna McDaniel a total setup from the beginning?
Posted by bluestem75 on 3/27/24 at 9:49 am
They set up McDaniel for a huge lawsuit. Talk about toxic work environment. Pretty textbook there.
She should sue and NBC will have to pay.
What the head of NBC News should have done was sat every one of those anchors down with an HR-generated performance improvement plan. He should have remi...

It’s kind of hard to be 3 steps ahead when everything they do is woefully transparent....
re: Sad to see: abortions were falling steadily for decades, now rising since 2019
Abortion is essentially an issue of the heart, and the radical right wing in America has no heart. I have yet to read any message from a right-oriented poster here (usu. men) saying they would be willing to adopt and care for a child borne by a girl in trouble.
re: Beach trip yo Galveston w a toddler ETA: Maybe Biloxi instead??
Posted by bluestem75 on 3/24/24 at 9:50 pm
The beaches there suck. There’s not much to do either. I only go there to get on a cruise ship. It’s charming for one night. That’s it. The hotels are entry level brands for major hotel chains and cost $100 more per night than they should. I book hotels in Houston now when I cruise out of Galveston....

re: Any Word On Trump Posting Bond Tomorrow?
Posted by bluestem75 on 3/24/24 at 9:34 pm
I watched a Fox News clip that stated if the NY AG office were to seize his property, they’d have to wade through multiple owners because Trump doesn’t own the land his properties are built on. Furthermore, there’s multiple investors with each property.
The AG office would then be responsible for...
