quote:Not taking away from anything Pat did but.... those titles were won long before women's basketball was no more than an afterthought. The WBB teams were more like club teams. Dawn's and Geno's titles were won more in the modern era where more and more money was geared to WBB. Apples and oranges in other words.
Yawn…wake me when she wins 8 natties before turning 59
re: NIL has neutered the SEC in the 2 big money sports

quote:... and yet you guys come to the SEC Rant to talk about it. The irony is just too much. This is in flux for now and the eyes are still on the SEC when it comes to college sports. Indiana bought a team 2 years in a row and the other B1G schools Michigan and OSU have always been traditional powers in football. When it's all said and done it will be the SEC that cones out on top because we don't deal with many pro teams in each state. Enjoy it while it last.... because it won't last. Warm weather vs ice cold will always be a deal breaker for southern kids who are actually the better places to get recruits. When the money thing gets settled... it will go back to normal very quickly.

It needs to be Atlantic/Pacific coast conference. APCC. That is way truer.
re: Queen of the SEC-Dawn Staley
Posted by flagshipuniversity on 3/2/26 at 4:21 am to SOSFAN
People are so ignorant when it comes to women's sports and Staley in particular. Misogynists who can't get a woman or get it up hate women's sports and racist who put down a woman who supports her own race while no being racist or saying anything negative about any other race out of pure unadulterated ignorance is called a racist for that very thing are Dunning/Kruger participants. There is a segment of this country who will never be happy unless others are suffering because they don't understand real suffering. Those people are ignorant beyond comprehension and pandering to their hate and ignorance is a useless and impossible task. I and most decent people understand what Dawn has meant to women of all races and women's sports in general. Yes... queen of the SEC for all who really understand. The ones that don't... wallow in your misery.
re: Remember when that dumbass Ray Tanner hired Paul Mainieri to lead our baseball team?
Posted by flagshipuniversity on 2/26/26 at 5:35 am to CarolinaGamecock99
There is no bottom for this guy. He will get a shovel out and dig deeper. Tanner should be banned from USC for life. He hired an old man to coach a young man's game. Idiotic at best.
re: Further proof that Sankey is a fraud who is hurting the SEC
Posted by flagshipuniversity on 2/26/26 at 5:31 am to AHM21
I couldn't care less about a win over SC St. vs a loss against UNC. The win sucks and the loss sucks in that scenario. I would rather go watch power 4 vs power 4 games. I am not interested in low level games. It's like going into a high-level restaurant and them serving you a McDonalds burger and fries. No thanks.
Spurrier is right.... once again.
Posted by flagshipuniversity on 2/10/26 at 11:30 am
Yet Spurrier understands that embracing the new wrinkles of college football is the only way to win. When asked for his thoughts on Ole Miss signing a player who was already signed and taking classes at Clemson, Spurrier started getting on Tigers coach Dabo Swinney. “I thought by now somebody would have told Dabo, ‘Dabo, there ain’t no rules anymore,’” Spurrier said. “I don’t know if they’re ever gonna enforce any rules now or not.” He continued: “You can complain, but I don’t know how (much) good it’s gonna do. There’s no rules.”

Well, if you did t see this coming, you are ignorant. State beat Tennessee in Knoxville and then got beat down by that racist bitch at USC.

He did this... on national television with millions watching... hundreds of thousand watching from the stands... and 2 entire football teams and their staff watching... what would this idiot trooper do when he stopped you or your family with no one watching??? I guess then you might say your family was soft? No... you would want the guy held accountable for running into you or your kid on purpose. Geez... be careful with what you call stupid...
No wonder South Carolina sucks. What the trooper did was wrong, but damn Beamer’s players are soft.

Maybe they're hoping Briles is the magic pill to fix everything in Columbia...
Three-year contracts and a possible 1-year coach...
Posted by flagshipuniversity on 12/11/25 at 11:21 am
Beamer's hot seat won't effect this if he can't get it right.
Briles agreed to a three-year contract with the Gamecocks that will pay him an average of $2.1 million annually. Former South Carolina OC Mike Shula earned $1.1 million in 2025. Drayton, whose running backs coach title extends to assistant head coach for offense, also signed a three-year contract worth $775,000 a year. Clements, meanwhile, agreed to a two-year contract worth $725,000 per year.
