Auburn has dismissed linebacker Xavier Atkins, ESPN’s Pete Thamel said, citing sources.
Atkins was suspended for Saturday’s win over No. 1 Georgia, and his status had been uncertain since. The program has now decided to part ways with him.
Atkins was one of the SEC’s most productive defenders last season, earning first-team All-SEC honors in 2025 after leading the league with 17.0 tackles for loss.
Late Monday night, Atkins announced on social media that he plans to enter the transfer portal when the appropriate window opens.
No reason for the suspension or dismissal has been made public. Auburn has not yet commented publicly.
