Those people aren’t state or ole miss fans. They’re just Mississippians who root for the entire state. I actually know some people like that but I don’t characterize them as actual fans because they aren’t.

To act like there’s a sizable contingent of state fans who root for ole miss is laughable

The list is laughable. Why do a list and not give the parameters?

This list is the opposite of scientific. But it does appear to be a conversation starter…

Perhaps this is the reason for their struggles. Blind loyalty often leads to a bad product. If fans will show up regardless, then there's no motivation by the AD to actually put good teams on the field. This is pro sports now, everyone is getting paid. Why would I, as a fan, fight traffic, spend hundreds of dollars, and brave the elements to consistently watch a bad product?

I have seen the concerns you mention posted by actual aggies with ag tags on Texags boards…

People, a lot on this board, somehow equate loyalty to attendance. Thus, South Carolina has a crappy team yet they still sell out their stadium is equated to loyalty which it is not. It’s lunacy.

In this case loyalty actually means you are accepting of bad team. I much prefer fans who express themselves using their dollars in meaningful ways.

If loyalty can be measured by online meltdowns, and I think it can, then I do think LSU belongs near the top of the list…

bryant-denny was expanded so you could host the IB. ? It had nothing to do with "fan support".
The north end zone of the stadium was expanded in 2006 so that it could start hosting the Iron Bowl in 2000?

Think about that for a second.

Def not Alabama at number 1 and OU all the way down at 12....the hell?

I mean I think the top is prob Tenn(they have not won the SEC since 1998(which is very, very insane) yet sell-out most games at a huge stadium.

This is some little brother coping . Bama has always been the program in the state. More fans than the sheep lovers throughout history.

Alabama fans are loyal to winning. So are most of the rest.
There was a generation of Bammers whose loyalty kept the program alive in the early 2000s. Same for us and same for Auburn.

Alabama and loyal do not belong in the same sentence. The fans quit on the team and start bashing the players and coaches as soon as they lose 1 game. Many times it doesn't even require an actual loss for them to start trashing their own program...

WTF are you smoking? There is NO flipping “back and forth” between State and Ole Miss fans. None. Absolute zero. You don’t have a clue what in state competition feels like. No clue at all.

South Carolina is an outlier as far as having loyal fans who have lived through tough times.

I just wonder if the combination of NIL, transfer portal, and “win playoff or you’re a loser” will result in even Gamecock fans just giving up the gameday routine.

I know I’ve lost interest over the last decade. We have sucked at football so that is some of it, but I don’t even know the names of the starting players on the team bc everyone portals to and fro. I used to build my fall weekends around football. I don’t anymore. I gave up season tickets years ago. I have not been to a game since 2019.

I’ll watch on TV after golf or if it rains, but I don’t schedule my tee time around it.

I just wonder IF the next generation of SEC fans will be as devoted to the teams in general.

If South Carolina dips in attendance, that is the canary in the coal mine to me.

Texas and LSU are every bit as loyal as A&M. We just don't go to the games if our team sucks.

Many Ag's think our loyalty works against us. We sell out the biggest stadium in the league and don't leave even though we lose the games that really count.

So the big money guys look at that and don't have to make the necessary changes. I think an empty stadium sends an important and sometimes necessary message. I think that is why LSU and tu will be down for a year or two and then come back and win it all.

mean if you want to talk "loyalty" id imagine Missouri, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, South Carolina have more loyal fans than Texas, Alabama, LSU, or Georgia. In fact it seems a lot of the Alabama fans became Georgia fans and are now Indiana fans.

Spot on! Texas fan didn’t think this one through.

How much is that Texas education worth ? Not a bucket of piss . You have teams that can’t sale out their stadiums ahead of teams that have sold out their stadiums for record years ….. OU is obviously low becuase your a Longhorn fan but some of your other decisions makes me think you decided to throw a list together off what you thought rather than what makes a fan base loyal lol.
