The Most Loyal Fan Bases in the SEC

1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Texas
4. Georgia
5. Texas A&M
6. Tennessee
7. Florida
8. South Carolina
9. Auburn
10. Ole Miss
11. Arkansas
12. Oklahoma
13. Missouri
14. Kentucky
15. Mississippi State
16. Vanderbilt

Agree or disagree?

The Most Loyal Fan Bases in the SEC

MY DISCLAIMERS (I am heading your complaints off at the pass...)

A. Yes, this is another stupid list. But what else is there to do on this Board 5 months from football season??

B. No, I did not make this list up. Someone else did (see link above.). So don't shoot the messenger.

C. Yes, this list is a link from Facebook. I'm "Old School Tex," so this tracks. I don't care if you laugh.

D. "Pimphand", I don't care if you tell me that this list is embarrassing, and to GTFO...

E. I often joke about aggy, but they have been remarkably loyal and hopeful since their last football National Championship (about the time that Hitler invaded Poland.) I thus think that aggy deserves to be above Texas in loyalty ranking. Texas football fans are more "fair weather" than aggy, as we are going to complain (and our younger members throw plastic bottles) much more quickly when our team's performance sucks.

I mean if you want to talk "loyalty" id imagine Missouri, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, South Carolina have more loyal fans than Texas, Alabama, LSU, or Georgia. In fact it seems a lot of the Alabama fans became Georgia fans and are now Indiana fans.

I hear you. I have lived in NC for many years now after growing up in Texas. I understand that our South Carolina fan neighbors are exceptionally loyal, and always fill their stadium on home game days…

Texas fans aren’t remotely loyal.

Should be #1.

Alabama fans are loyal to winning.
So are most of the rest.

South Carolina fans are loyal to South Carolina.

I’d put Texas A&M #2.
MSU and Ole Miss tied for #3.

Yes and no. With respect to football, we are very loyal when we are winning, or we think that our current program and / or recruits have a bright future. But we quickly get surly when our team sucks on national TV.

With respect to our school in general and academics, Texas fans are exceedingly loyal, generation after generation. We don’t think that UT takes a back seat to anyone in the state. Except Rice. Texas students and alumni will agree that Rice students are super smart. But we fortunately do not normally feel challenged by Rice in football.

I’m not going to argue with your logic here…

Historically, fan for fan, these schools have always had support far in excess of their success rate. It is easy when you are winning, but being in the Top 25 for attendance is stout when you have a losing team.

Been awhile since I was in Southern Columbia and Money Mitch was so focused on the media dollars that he may have killed the Big Blue faithful. Not sure where this all ends, but live attendance (the backbone of future donor dollars and on site revenue) is roughly 2/3's of revenue, media is only about 1/3 but not like AD's have paid attention to this relationship.

Yeah, exactly. I'd argue when it comes to football, when you factor in success v attendance, South Carolina and Kentucky have consistently been the most loyal fan bases BY FAR in this conference.

It's easy to show up and sell out when you're winning 10+ every single year and get to whine like a child when you only win 8 or 9. That list is garbage. Spend a decade or two in our shoes and then get back to me about fricking loyalty.

A lot the rankings on any sport from any school is how much they are winning in a respective sport.

There are many other sports going on right now, and Texas is pretty good at most all of them.

That's funny, because I'm old enough to remember that they had to expand the capacity of Bryant-Denny in 2006.

Typical Auburn cope to deal with cheering for a school mostly known as "Alabama's rival."

Aggie way more loyal than that.

Could you imagine not winning any championships in football since 1939? Could you imagine not competing for a division in Big12 or SEC since whenever?

........and STILL posting the famous, "Daddy Aggie" or "Don't Cry" posts? That, there is loyalty, baw.

he isn't lying.

I grew up in Florida. We would go to B'ham for Thanksgiving every year. During the bear years, 8 of 9 trucks had the bama see-through mesh on the back window. bama shite everywhere. During the mike years, you wouldn't see anything bama for miles and miles. saban showed up and bama fans came out from under every rock and crevice.
