Nobody is factoring in O-line play. Cam would not have beaten that 2019 Auburn team. LSU couldn’t block those guys up front. Nor would he keep pace @Alabama. He would not have been able to run it up on those defenses behind LSUs oline. Sure, he could heave it up to Chase, Jefferson, Marshall, etc… but that’s downplaying the elite accuracy of Joe Burrow (most accurate QB in the NFL in 2021).

Joe burrow would have fallen on that fumble. End of thread

Isn't this thread comparing Burrow 2019 to Newton 2010?

Not sure why that is even relevant to the conversation- much less "end of thread" worthy

Both QB’s perform significantly worse of switched teams.

I dunno, man. Cam is one of those you could stick in pretty much any offense and you'd be sitting pretty.

He's not necessarily a better "QB" in the traditional sense than Burrow, but freakish athleticism combined with what was very much an NFL arm carries you a long way.

LSU 45

LSU 23
Auburn 20

LSU 46
Alabama 41

Math is hard.

Cam would have run wild with that LSU team. It's O line won the Joe Moore award for best oline in college football that year. Sure it was better pass blocking than run blocking, but it would have been more than enough for Cam; especially if he pulled it down and took off on pass plays. The pass blocking and stacked wr core would have really up'ed Cam's passing stats too.

It's fitting you chose that gif.

Bizarre shite like that is the only reason LSU won that game.

Oof.

There is no debate. Burrow could recognize a defensive alignment. Auburn had two offensive plays.

I'd argue being completely dominant running only 2 plays is far more impressive.

There is no point in this debate. They are two completely different players who turned in the two best individual seasons in SEC history from the QB position.

Cam couldn't get to his 3rd read 10 years after he played in college.

So everyone knew what was coming, therefore, would be in the best defense to stop it and still couldn't because Cam was that dominant.

Great argument.

I’m not a fan of his but 2010 Cam Newton is the SEC MVP for a single team in a single year.
