Do people really debate this?

What is there to debate?

I think everybody on this board outside of Alabama fans can agree that Mac Jones would have turned both 2010 Auburn and 2019 LSU into 2-3 loss teams.

Gus Malzahn's offense was en vogue in 2010 and he was among the best OCs in the country at that time

yes, at the time Cam played, which is what is relevant to this discussion. Cam wasn't done some disservice by having Gus. Gus was actually the perfect OC for his skillset in 2010.

I know. Just pointing out that he hasn't been a good OC in 7-8 years since then.

Different offenses, different surrounding characters, different skill sets, don't see how you can compare. Cy Young vs Greg Maddux.

Burrow was on an LSU team that was stacked. They would have been good no matter who the QB was. It just happened to be a great, talented young man.

Cam WAS Auburn. Without him 2010 Auburn wins 7 games....maybe.

I doubt it. Say what you want or believe what you want but Mac was on fire in 2020. He literally could not miss. People say, oh, Ruggs, Waddell, Smith, etc. Well, Tua had them too PLUS Jeudy and Mac smashed his records.

The biggest difference is Auburn's running game, which was the best in the country, but Cam was a big part of that.

Cam was the biggest part of that. Auburn had a 7-5 roster with a God-tier QB.

We always see people debate what Cam would've done on the 2019 LSU team when we debate who had the better season between Joe and Cam

Never seen this before.

Huh? Cam had a passer rating of 182 without having a single weapon who was eventually drafted.

Cam only averaged 182 ypg in conference play. He wasn't lighting up every big time defense he played. He did have great games against Bama and South Carolina, though.

Now with his legs, there is a different story. Cam ran for a total of 603 yards and 9 TDs over a three game span in October 2010, including 217 yards against a top ten LSU team and 188 yards against a top fifteen Arkansas team.

I think Johnny Manzeil is the best college level QB i have ever seen.

Burrow is more of an elite NFL prototype and Cam was a crazy talent but Manzeil made the greatest out of nothing out of hat type plays i ever ever seen.

Let's say we need to choose a QB for Vanderbilt or Mizzou next year or some other terrible P5 scrubs. I would choose Johnny football 10/10 times to make them competitive if I'm the coach.

When I clicked on this, I thought it was going to be about who has the best gender-neural clothes.

I'm not going to get into a pointless debate because they were both pretty much perfect players given their era, system, supporting cast etc...

The only thing I will say is that AU doesn't go undefeated with Joe in 2010. LSU probably still would have with Cam, though maybe not quite as dominantly.

This makes the assumption that Tua is any good…

There is no debate. Just ask every NFL executive, scout and coach.
