Because your fan base and the media set the standard by claiming BK can’t win the big one, while Marcus Freeman can. That’s the narrative. BK’s ND teams ran into two of the best teams of the playoff era: 2018 Clemson and 2020 Alabama. Y’all couldn’t compete. Now, after having a shamefully easy path to the title, the same shite is happening. Same shite, different day. And this is after your pissed off alumns rallied the troops to give Freeman everything he needed to compete. It’s not hard to understand why we’re laughing at your retarded narrative now that it’s blown up in your face.
Context: who did they lose to? Surely that matters. Is Indiana a 2018 Clemson or 2020 Bama? What about this Georgia team? What about Penn State? Hell, even this Ohio State team? You can eat shite and admit y’all aren’t at that level yet.
lol. Y’all shite on Kelly for getting waxed by 2 of the best teams in recent history. Eat shite, retard
He’s certainly more dynamic. His deep ball is more accurate. But Burrow just had an S tier season.
In what universe does this Freeman coached ND team come within two scores of 2018 Clemson or 2020 Alabama? Anxious for your thoughts.
In 2018, Brian Kelly’s Notre Dame lost 34-3 to the undefeated Clemson Tigers, led by Trevor Lawrence, who went on to beat an undefeated Alabama team 44-16 in the national championship.

In 2020, Kelly’s Notre Dame lost to Alabama 34-14, who went on to beat Ohio State 52-24 in an uncompetitive national championship game. This team was led by a heisman winning wide receiver and was one of the best offenses of the modern era.

How close is Gunner Stockton’s Georgia or Penn State to 2020 Bama? Or 2018 Clemson? These are two of the best teams in recent history. Look at the rosters and their natties.

Will getting dog walked vs Ohio State change your perception? Or is it just the perceived energy around the program that makes Freeman so great? This is shaping up to be really embarrassing for ND and the media, because now just making it to the party isn’t enough. Losing the big game makes everything else a sham (which is a shame… what they’ve accomplished is impressive given their lack of offensive talent and injuries!)

16 of 22 starters never had a single practices under BK.

6 starters had a practice with and were recruited by BK? Wow, that's a lot more than I was expecting.

quote:

Freeman had to scramble to keep the class together the year BK left

Lol, and? That's a part of every coaching transition. Also means less in the NIL/Transfer era.

quote:

Sure BK hired Freeman, but I consider Freeman to be on the Fickell coaching tree and not BK.

I never said he was under the BK coaching tree, but he got hired at ND via Kelly. Was it a good hire, or no? What about Elko?

quote:

As for KeLLLLy's fingerprints....barely anything of this team resembles a BK product.

The offense is a Denbrock offense, which is virtually synonymous with a Kelly offense. Denbrock's tailored it to fit his limitations at QB. Y'all have a mean defense and run the ball well.

quote:

Nothing Freeman does resembles the BK years.

The entire infrastructure he's working with is a product of Kelly's development of the ND program. They look a lot like a Kelly team, just with better defensive talent.
1. Denbrock has made a huge difference for the Notre Dame offense. They have a legit NFL runningback, and Denbrock is able to get the most out of Riley Leonard, who is fun to watch in these close games. Watching this year's ND offense vs 2022-23 is night and day.
2. Marcus Freeman's defenses are nasty. They're big fast, and fundamentally sound, and they play ridiculously hard. It's no wonder LSU wanted him so badly in 2021.
3. ND's taken a major step in their defensive talent under Freeman. The NIL era + Freeman's youth have revitalized ND recruiting in a way not seen in the BK era in South Bend.
4. Freeman has ND in a position to be a yearly lock for the college football playoffs, which is about what he inherited from BK. This is not to take anything away from Freeman, but he inherited a Ferarri. BK's fingerprints are all over the program. And as good as this ND team is, they'd be a PROBLEM if they had an elite QB.
5. This team is fun to watch.
Their defense is better, more disciplined, etc. because of Freeman, who Kelly hired. Their roster is more competitive because of NIL.
They were 11-1 when he left, retard.

Didn't Freeman inherit an 11-1 squad from our current coach? Jw
This season it’s pretty futile to make the comparison given all the parity. Does LSU beat NIU at home? Does Notre Dame beat A&M on the road in week 8? Does LSU lose to A&M week 1 with Conor Weigman? Does LSU beat USC last Saturday? All worthless hypotheticals.
You act like BK wasn’t 11-1 when leaving ND. If Freeman wins a natty, I’ll be impressed

Call me crazy but we’ve missed on in state defensive linemen. Should we have paid 7-8 figures for Freak Johnson or Maason Smith? This guy didn’t play as much high school ball as those two and they were “locks” to be elite. Both were average
I don’t think it came down to money, actually. I think he was becoming conflicted over leaving home, and ultimately chose to stay in Michigan.
Firing Brian Kelly would be detrimental to the program. He hired the best defensive staff in the country this past off season. He has an elite class about to come in.
This was Kelly’s first true blunder. He’s over-performed the past two seasons.
