Those weapons would mean nothing because Cam wasn’t a good quarterback. He was big and fast.

He didn’t have a good arm and he didn’t have the ability to read, react, and carve up a defense.

He had the ability to run. That does nothing for Clyde and those WR’s. And that’s why no one around Cam put up good numbers… End of discussion.
You’re really trolling here. You can’t be this stupid.

ETA: Cam literally beat Alabama and South Carolina, back to back, with his arm. Nobody put up huge numbers around him because the offense was centered around the run and there weren’t any weapons out wide. Plus, their run, way more often than not, couldn’t be stopped.

@ Kentucky (Randell Cobb team)
Randall. Who the hell spells it Randell?

That Auburn team beat us on a Wes Bynum FG. We had them deep in their territory and Cam broke from a tackle. If we had made that stop, we probably would have won. But you have to credit Cam for making the play and setting them up on that drive for a FG.

BS. Why would Cam do worse with LSU? His run threat alone would have teams having to stack the box and then having elite receivers in 1-on-1 matchups.

Because he wasn’t an accurate passer and the offense we had wasn’t designed for a running qb

Cam was more than accurate enough. LSU posters who are trying to revisionist history Cam into Chris Relf are hilarious.

One of the more insane throws you will ever see is the throw Cam made while being dragged out of bounds after rolling to his right and heaved a deep ball using nothing but arm strength to Kodi Burns 40 yards down field.

There is literally no one comparing the two.

Check his accuracy stats.

Cam had a cannon, and if he was tossing lobs to Chase and Jefferson with 9 in the box, he would have been regarded as a prolific passer.

Cam Newton’s supporting cast and coaching was far below what Joe Burrow had to work with.

I actually might argue the coaching part.

Something that helped Cam was the newness and ingenuity of Malzahn. People hadn’t figured out his offense yet, and the zone reads gave Cam the perfect set up for using his legs.

Folks also don’t give Burrow enough credit for his incredible pocket awareness in 2019, acting like he was just dropping back with no pressure and letting the WRs and Helaire do all the work.

The margin between Burrow and Cam is razor thin

Joe Burrow was nothing without Joe Brady.

Cam/Tebow

The best way to determine this debate is to have them switch teams.

Cam still goes undefeated with the 2019 LSU offense.

2010 Auburn loses 3-4 games with Joe at QB.

/thread

ETA: They both won championships so this debate as a whole is fricking stupid.

A lots being made of Cam’s supporting cast not being Burrow’s but with no mention of Burrow possibly elevating his supporting cast. Weren’t Clyde and Justin Jefferson 3 stars or under? Randy’s moss’s son wasn’t much, and I read a story about Chase being a Kansas commit before LSU came along (not sure what that says about his star rating but can’t imagine a 5 star at Kansas?)

Who were Burrow’s big star-studded weapons?

Cam had a 5 star RB (Dyer?) that won the natty for him and that TE (RIP). Don’t know about his WRs but probably 3 stars at least?

Idk, the answer is JMFF either way

2019 LSU won three single digit games with all that talent.

2010 Auburn absolutely loses 3-4 games with Burrow at the helm.

Am I allowed to mention our defensive injuries or can only y’all do that?

It’s just as fair of a hypothetical

Love you using “absolutely” there

To be honest, Cam Newton did what Vince Young did: dared teams to try and stop him running and then bombed them over the top when they did.

Burrow was more impressive. And not a complete piece of shite like Newton.

Mention anything you want. It won't change the overall 2019 LSU roster or the 2010 Auburn one.

Didn't LSU lose 3 games with Burrow at the helm the year before?

Hell, Alabama beat them 29-0 in Baton Rouge in 2018.

Cam didn’t have weapons or play calling of Joe brady

He honestly would not have been very successful with Brady’s calls. Just like Burrow would not be very successful running the read option.
