The difference is Auburn has already had multiple self-imposed penalties.
South Carolina did nothing wrong, so there weren't any penalties to self-impose.

We have a fantastic Head of Compliance, who worked for the NCAA, and he got out ahead of it immediately.
This isn’t a dig at Auburn, so don’t take it as such. I agree that you did everything right with Person and should be fine.
With that said, don’t think that having worked for the NCAA means anything. Our assistant AD that was Chuck’s junior partner came to Bama from the position of assistant director of enforcement for the NCAA.

Then why did you get an NOA?

Technically, Auburn didn't do anything wrong either. They still self-imposed penalties though.

The NCAA lost any remaining shreds of credibility with the UNC academic scandal and Duke/Zion and unending strings of Nashnuulll recruitin’ champeeeenshiiips.
I won’t hear another damn thing about rule breaking among plebeian schools.

I think the day. Is coming where some university is going. To bring stuff like that up and challenge the NCAA in a court of law because of it

He knows NCAA protocol. He knows what to do and how not to piss them off. See Memphis earlier this year. They snubbed their nose at the NCAA earlier this season. Bad move.

It is the NCAA. Lets not act like the NCAA does things correctly.

Damn now we will be on probation and that will ruin our continuous string of NCAA tourny runs!

This thread has turned into an Auburn vs Alabama with some LSU thrown in bitchfest
Really disrespect IMHO. This is a thread about SCs NOA. Are we just forgotten that easily?!?!?

Unlike Auburn and LSU we didn't have any coaches arrested or any coaches on wire tap talking about strong arse offers.
Stay in denial.

If I remember correctly, Sexton never missed any playing time, even though he was a player central to the Alabama situation. Auburn voluntarily sat Purifoy and Wiley. Purifoy missed an entire season.

"South Carolina is at least the sixth school to be formally charged by the NCAA in relation to the federal investigation. NC State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, USC and TCU all have acknowledged receiving NOAs. Creighton will neither confirm nor deny receiving a notice. Other schools known to be under investigation include Auburn, Louisville, Arizona, LSU and Alabama"
Interesting that from the SEC that Auburn, Alabama, and LSU are all under investigation as well.

If SC learned anything from the North Carolina, Mizzou, and Mississippi State situations, they will button up, batten down the hatches, refuse to cooperate, and then negotiate a slap on the wrist accompanied with a semi-serious "apology".

with the NCAA you never know what they'll decide.
I usually agree with you, but not in this case.
I am pretty sure Missouri will lose more scholarships.

We did sit Sexton out then the NCAA cleared him to play after one game.

The Enforcement staff included no language in its NOA alleging that Dozier accepted money from Evans or Dawkins, which would have retroactively jeopardized the current Denver Nugget’s eligibility and potentially led to a forfeiture of wins—including victories that came during the Gamecocks’ 2017 Final Four run. Lacking that type of allegation, it would appear that that season is not subject to being vacated.

I would love to see an actual copy of the notice of allegations to see exactly what they are alleging. All that is described is exchange of money between a former SC assistant coach and agent while he was on the SC Staff. There is no mention of "lack of institutional control" nor any mention of any players receiving any benefit meaning an case against USC is based solely on Evans's being a considered a university representative when he basically went rogue. This all seems like it could just be a formality of wrapping the case up with Evans.
So I disaqree with this "fight the NCAA to the bitter end!!" stuff because this is probably just nothing to fight here.
