South Carolina men’s basketball has received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA related to the actions of former assistant coach Lamont Evans, Sports Illustrated reported Thursday.

The allegation is of a Level I violation, the most serious possible. SI obtained the notice through a public records request.

quote:

The association charged the school with a Level I violation for Evans allegedly accepting at least $5,865 in bribes in 2015-16 from agent and runner Christian Dawkins. The bribes were in exchange for Evans arranging meetings between Dawkins and former Gamecocks guard P.J. Dozier and his family, in the hopes of swaying them to retain the agency Dawkins was working for, ASM Sports, which was run by Andy Miller.

After being arrested and charged in September 2017, Evans formally admitted a year ago to accepting $22,000 in bribes while an assistant at South Carolina and at Oklahoma State, in exchange for steering players to Dawkins and others in the financial advisor realm. He was sentenced last June to three months in prison.

Unlike Auburn and LSU we didn't have any coaches arrested or any coaches on wire tap talking about strong arse offers.

The fact that a coach is involved in SCs makes it a lot more serious, similar to Auburns and LSUs.

Can you send me a link to those wire taps? Or can you send me a link that shows the NCAA has them? I can provide you with one that shows the Court told them no to their request to retrieve them if you’d like. I don’t think a yahoo article citing third hand information is going to make the NCAA’s case. Some of y’all really need to come up with some new material

This is such total bullshite. We're getting mizzou'd but on a much larger scale because of who we are...or rather who we are not.

It sounds from that article like the odds of this dropping to a Level 2 are pretty good.
