These days, it ain't wrong to add the Warriors.
Yep. Frontrunning nation here in Atlanta has had a big shift to the Warriors. The Warriors-Hawks game last year probably had 2K "Warriors" fans sitting around me. We are a huge melting pot, but the Bay Area doesn't usually contribute much to that.

What is it about modern Alabama that allows them to treat players differently and pay no penalty for it? How come every other program has to sell on the chance to get to the NFL, when just due to playing time Bama is successful selling the opposite?
If you don't have too much Alabama in you, it's kinda hard to explain.
They just have too much Alabama in them.

Not one person in this thread has mentioned what I consider to be one of his biggest recruiting tactics.
"Your son will leave here with a degree"
The stats don't lie. This is a very big deal to a lot of parents.

Every kid thinks he is the freaking GOAT, that is all he has ever heard. They all believe that they will be starters with two years of getting to Bama and then making 20 million a year in NFL. Everyone of the 5 stars and top players believes this. So they don't carry about processing, competing with other players etc. They are the GOAT. Saban the GOAT coach wants them, says they are best fill in the blank he was ever seen. He cant be wrong.
They believe this bullshite until first practice starts. Then reality sets it, and it is too late.

Ugh. Atlanta sports 'fans'... On the whole, so much of this. I'll be the first to admit I was a Jordan fan growing up... but at some point, you pick your team. I think we can all take a wild stab and say that a grand total of about 3 of those 2k were "real" Warriors fans.

It's an odd phenomenon because they don't even prepare their guys for the NFL that well

Alabama is the GOAT program led by the GOAT coach. Can't believe this is even a question.

quote:This answer is probably the real wild card reason for the year-after-year success. Recruits are told that Alabama is all about business, and only the best are asked to become part of it. If a kid honestly believes that he's the best at what he does and has the confidence in his own ability to come and compete daily with the best for a spot, then he'll come and that's the type of kid you want. If he doesn't, then he won't come and that's best for both parties.
Serious answer?
(1) For starters, Saban. Look up Tuscaloosa's thread about Saban's SEC classes. Even in his time at LSU he was raking in top 3 classes and, as a couple of posters pointed out, that was before he got the reputation of being tGOAT. He's just really, really good at it.
(2) I think Bama does a really good job of identifying the players that will respond to the pitch they use. They aren't selling playing time. They're selling a chance to compete and show you're the best. Some players embrace that challenge and I think those are the types Bama targets - which is a double-positive for Bama in that the kids all expect the same thing when they arrive (no aTm-like drama) and they've got the type of attitude that readily buys into Saban's process.

The staff follows two simple dictums:
ABC - Alway Be Closing
AIDA - Attention Interest Decision Action
They get them to sign on the line which is dotted. Recruiting takes brass balls.

LSU recruits and players believe this bull shite, that they can beat Alabama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss, until the game starts. Then reality sets it, and it is too late
FIFY. Amazing how Tuthilltigger and Metrytigger know so much about Alabama. They know exactly what Coach Saban tells the recruits, what ALL recruits think, what their attitude is, and exactly how they are fooled and lied to because that is the only way Alabama can get recruits to go there.

and it is too late
Too late for what? Getting a National Championship ring?
What a tool...

Exclusivity,
A Ticket to fame and glory... and even signing the line doesn't get you in, just puts you in the running. It's not a team any more, it's a club, a fraternity with built in rewards after college if you make it past the pledge process. Commit to them if you want, go ahead and bid, but Alabama picks and chooses who will fit best and who should probably search elsewhere.
At this point, outside of the top 25 recruits.... if a kid doesn't sign with Alabama, it's because Alabama didn't choose him.
We are now college football evil incarnate.

My one question is, how do certain recruiting web sites always manage to somehow 'upgrade' Bama recruits in the final few days before NSD, while SIMULTANEOUSLY downgrading recruits committed to other schools.
Things that make you go HMMMMMMM ?????

I'm still trying to determine what that chart has to do with anything.
