My son’s list for her was shorter than her granddads??. She was allowed to go anywhere she wanted and was accepted to…except aggy and Arkansas. Even ou was in the mix and not on the forbidden list with that national merit scholarship offer. LSU wasn’t forbidden, but we all hoped she would choose better.

In Kansas? I'm not doubting you, just surprised.
Yeah the campus in Lawrence is extremely hilly. The Main Street area is pretty flat though. Lawerence is extremely underrated.

Alabama has the nicest SEC campus I have visited (including Vandy and OM).
In Texas, SMU and Rice have much nicer campuses than UT and A&M.

I say this as an Aggie: there is no way in hell the A&M campus is in top top half, let alone #2.
Although the central core has some nice neoclassical architecture, and work is being done to build nicer looking new buildings, there is just way too many brutalist structures.
The curse of experiencing rapid growth in the 70s.

If she wants to work for NASA, Huntsville is a great place to end up.

I love the KU campus and Lawrence is great! I couldn’t disagree more with you!

I'm obviously biased, but the Arkansas campus specifically in the fall is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. It's pretty any time, but Fayetteville in general during that time in particular is breathtaking.

I know right. One of the flattest states in the nation and they build their campus on one of the few hilly places they have.
I have run on about half of the the D1 football campuses in the United States and the two steepest hills ON campus I have been to are at KU and Washington State. It is uncanny how much those two campuses are alike in terms of being strung along the top of a ridge. KU is way nicer than WSU though.
Georgia's hills (starting at Lumpkin and and Baxter) and going north or west or south... are not as steep as KU or WSU's hills... but they are longer. At UGA you gotta be fit to be in a frat or a sorority with Baxter being your path to campus.

While I’ve only been to a few here are mine.
Bama- beautiful around Denny’s chimes. Cool that they put player’s handprints. Also walking up to the stadium with the national championships is nice.
LSU-went there and had a tour. The cultural atmosphere was impressive (civil rights and slave museum)
Mississippi State- I liked Little Dooie’s
A&M- it is nice and spread out. That is both good and bad.
Texas-how can so many hills be on 40 acres? I do love going to the LBJ museum when I take students to the UIL state academics meet.

Been to most but yet to visit Texas schools, Mizzou, or OU. All have nice features about them. I prefer college towns, so Knoxville and Columbia do nothing for me. Vanderbilt reminds me of Wake Forest. In a city but sort of on its own. Outside of UA always enjoyed UGA.
We been touring schools with my daughter. Her top two choices are UVA and Cornell. Both really nice campuses. Yale is all one of my favorites.
Someone mentioned Duke earlier but outside of the old quad not a very attractive campus. Not to mention in the middle of Durham so even on campus after dark is not safe. UNC used to be a great college town, but the medical facilities have taken over along with all the apartment complexes gobbling up real estate.

I have been to all except Florida. This won’t be a popular choice here but the Missouri campus is really nice with the grounds and the architecture. Also really like Alabama and Ole Miss.

I can understand some of the comments about the city of Starkville in general, but State's campus is beautiful and isn't anywhere near the bottom. You'd be hard pressed to find another one in the conference that is as well manicured.

I've been to LSU, Ole Miss, Miss State, Auburn, Alabama, and Texas. I did a quick pass by Tennessee but I don't remember much so I'll not rank them.
LSU and Ole Miss I'd put as a tie for the top of that list. I'm a NOLA native, so the St. Charles Ave. feel of parts of the LSU campus resonate with me. The day I was at Ole Miss, it was very overcast and I froze my butt off so I think that affected how I saw the campus. If i went back I may have a different opinion of it, but now LSU and Ole Miss tie for my tops.
Auburn and Mississippi State are next, with Auburn slightly ahead. I liked the campuses. I liked the towns. Auburn was just a tad nicer then Starkville, but I liked both.
Maybe I was having a bad day, but I did not like Alabama or Tuscaloosa. It just didn't have the charm of the others. Possibly I didn't visit the right parts campus or the town.
Texas is a campus swallowed by a downtown area. New York City pulls that off in several locations. Austin just doesn't. The nicer parts of UT can't overcome the fact that you are in the middle of town.

I ran the AthHalf half marathon a few years ago in Athens. The first part of the course is not on campus and is relatively flat. The last 6 miles or so are around campus and they were pretty tough.
