Cheese and Root over 7 ERA's.
Saw that coming a mile away. Root was a gamer but he was never what media people talked like he was.

Man I'm stoked to watch some P5 teams with losing records duke it out ahead of the R64.
"Our RPI is 68 guys, we're safely in!"
I noticed Miikka mentioned one and done a lot in his interviews after he signed. I'm worried he's coming in with unrealistic expectations and is going to end up getting frustrated.
I mean at this point just get rid of the regular season and let everyone in. Seems like such a stupid move especially considering we've entered a time where the tournament is already very chalky as it is.

That's fair. We should be better at staying in front of the ball. But when Brazile is your "force" inside, there's a lot to be desired there as well.

As it stands, we're counting on Bowser to make a huge leap.

If yall are arguing over picking up a 7ft 5 star player, then that means the Hogs are in good shape lol
Don't think people would be so concerned if we were already more solidified defensively inside. Right now we're in position to have the same weaknesses as last year unless Bowser wildly exceeds expectations. Obviously a good get, but we still have holes in the roster so people are on edge.

We definitely missed on some evals, no doubt about it. But IMO the ranking also denotes the immediate effect of not having as much backing.

Obviously we should still be better than we are even with the decrease, but it's hard to argue it's not having an effect.

Doesn't that add credence to the NIL argument?

It's why I just can't get on the wagon with this team. We may end with a respectable conference record and might even host, but I dread seeing this team in the postseason format.

Getting 3 hit by Missouri's Sunday guys isn't exactly stellar either.

About to give Missouri their 4th SEC win of the season.
quote:

Brazile being a 3 with the size of a 4 who has been in the 4 spot has made people over value the necessity of a elite 5. Actually having 4s and 5s who play as a 4/5 instead of wanting to hang out on the perimeter like a 3 will make a world or difference.
You say that, but Brazile still out-blocked and out-rebounded the 5's. Brazile was definitely a finesse player, but we were also just weak at the 5. Both are true.

I'm of the mind that if next year's team is even remotely similar to this one, we don't need an "elite" big. We just need a Moses Kingsley or Steven Hill type role player.
quote:

You brought him up.
I also said the play of the frontcourt (group of players) didn't match the play of the backcourt (a separate group of players). Do you think everyone in the backcourt was generational? Because that's the only way what you said would make any sense.

You're just trolling at this point. Everyone who watched the team knows the frontcourt was the weakness all year. It was brought up from December to March.
quote:

you’ll just twist my words and make up fake arguments to make yourself feel better anyway.
Kinda like you trying to insinuate the term backcourt only means Acuff?
Yep. Acuff was the entire backcourt and played the only position considered to be in the backcourt. You're very smart.
Not particularly. Just don't see the point in acting like Ewin was some huge asset. This team hit a wall with a generational player because the play in the frontcourt didn't match the play in the backcourt and Ewin was half of that problem.
quote:

No, I originally pointed out that we don’t win the SEC tournament without him.
We don't win a tournament without one of the starters. Really bold statement. He was 4th on the team in scoring that game. Doesn't mean he's a "great" player or a loss of any significance. He was part of the reason the interior was this team's Achilles heel.

quote:

I don’t understand the hate for him.
You don't understand the hate for a 5 that didn't play defense and routinely got out-rebounded by guards?
quote:

How about the Ole Miss game?
You want to call a player "great" because he had a good game against one of the worst teams in the conference?
quote:

We don't win the SEC tournament or make the Sweet 16 without him.
Two of the three tournament games he had less than 4 rebounds and 8 points. 3 rebounds and 4 points in the championship game.

He had 5 rebounds or less in over half the games we played. He was great against overmatched teams that lacked in interior presence. He completely disappeared against teams with a pulse on the inside, and his offense was the "strength" of his game. Don't even get me started on his revolving door defense.

There are dozens of mediocre bigs in the portal right now that can do what he did. 9 points and 5 rebounds per game is not hard to replace at all and it's almost a guarantee you can get better defense out of them on top of it.

and the rumor is that it has... DVH is ticked off about it too. A 30% cut in funding for baseball...
Tank one of the best things we've got going so the football team can win 5 games.

Sweet.
