Didn't get the flu vaccine for most of my life. Never got the flu.
Joined the army and had to get one every year. Now it seems like I get sick all the time.

I think she should take a break from the public sphere for her own wellbeing and wellbeing of her family.
I get wanting to honor Charlie's memory by carrrying the organization forward, and I don't understand the hate she gets from people. For her own sake, though, she probably needs to step aside for a time.
