re: Basketball as a sport

Not a defender of officials but that is not an officiating problem. That is a problem with how the game is played and the rules. The short clock creates much of this. Move the clock to 40
Seconds and it will
Clean a lot of that up. Also…coach players not to foul.
Don’t think Rebel fans care at this point. Football is king. The only major sport and they are still playing. Everyone else is watching minor sports that few care about.
Feels like teams just rearrange the chairs on the deck. Player A leaves and you go buy a similar player from another team. The rich stay rich and the poor stay poor and the middle fights to stay out of the bottom but will never get to the top. Exception is probably T Tech. And for now Indiana…but we will
See if this lasts.

He is fired now. Just waiting until March to announce. Dead man walking.

Or players could quit fouling. Basketball is impossible to officiate. Every call…almost…is a gray area. The game is no longer basketball. Way too much contact and use of hands. That leads to officials seemingly just making random calls. What is a foul? Sometimes officials call a foul when they breathe on them if it is a shot…and then let the defense undress the dribblers or cutters. First half…no fouls. Second half…everything is a foul. They are consistent there. More fouls should be called to clean up the game. And move the shot clock to 40
Or 45 seconds. That would improve the game.
Evidently just enough
To beat Florida and Kentucky. I think they got Pope fired tonight
It could be fixed tomorrow but greed won’t allow it. All schools just stop paying. Tell players you have a scholarship….you are on your own with NIL….we will have nothing to do with it. We aren’t selling jerseys with your name on it. We will not make money off your name image or likeness. You are a student athlete with a scholarship and are expected meet minimum academic standards in order to keep
That scholarship. Obviously would never happen because as I said before….schools are greedy and would never all agree. But they could.

Hog fans as a
Whole are the absolute worst. In football thankfully they suck but they still think they and Alabama are equal in tradition they have simply had some bad calls the last 60’years. In basketball because they have a good team they think they have eclipsed North Carolina Kentucky UCLA in history and tradition. All they whine most hog fans have never been on a college campus much less been to Fayetteville.
It’s the transfer portal. Not the pay. Bleeding hearts who thought being treated as heroes and getting a free education was slavery….same people who think Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama are good for America.
They must be profitable to someone and someone must care or they would not exist…so why would I or anyone have a problem with them? Is it any more of a joke than James Madison or Tulane playing Oregon and Ole Miss? If it gives a team another chance to play a game…that seems a good thing.

From a fan of a school that has always been pristine. ??

And maybe does beat Florida if they had not had to play OSU. You really can’t dispute the argument that it is better for your program to schedule a game you can win 99 percent of the time.

You just can’t do this and ever again have a job at that institution. Unless it’s at Arkansas and then only if you were a beloved winning coach. Moore is not so he is done.

Well we know if the team
Loses for 10
Years and desperately need him to return as a coordinator he can be rehired.
Say hello to Oklahoma football and Kansas basketball. No one in college athletics has the history of those two.

Agree…conference championship game should be automatic. Really…we need to go back to just voting in a national champion or two team playoff. Indiana and Georgia for all of the marbles.
Sark is right. It is what every SEC school should do.
Texas should get in. No Texas fan but their resume is one of the best 12. Actually best 8.
Yeah that quote is not him saying LSU was the best job or he regretted leaving LSU. It is Saban saying he made a mistake going to the NFL

Really dumb…if he didn’t take it. I don’t disagree that it seems our priorities are out of whack….but if he wasn’t worth it he wouldn’t be getting it. More power to him.

Texas beat Vandy. Texas should be in or it is a joke. And not a fan of Texas but it is what it is
