re: Does Strength of Schedule Matter?

It is ridiculous. Go back to a two team playoff or mythical champion. It is more about the brand than the schedule. Notre Dame has it figured out.
I wish this was all of college football. Root for your team full of students from your school playing for the name on the front of the jersey. No playoffs…just good old regional long term rivalries

re: Joel Klatt on Auburn Job

Not a Klatt fan but because he is from Colorado it doesn’t make him wrong. Is he wrong? He may be wrong. Great fan support and boosters and administration who want to win.
I really don’t get or agree with the “Petrino (or any coach) didn’t beat Auburn or State so he can’t get the job”. My question would be was he a good enough coach before those games to get the job? If he was then he still is. If he wasn’t then winning those games doesn’t make him good enough either.
Because they beat Arkansas even with an historically bad team maybe? They have been the better program the last 25 years for sure. Who cares which was the better program in 1969.
I bet BK wishes he had kept that 1 mill he donated for NIL
Agree Gruden to Arkansas now seems realistic. With all of these openings…and Oklahoma and Texas are also real possibilities….if Arkansas is going to make a splash to excite their base and the money…it could be Gruden. Some up and comer or some Coordinator will not do it. A Calipari like hire.

Agree. Teams that were thought to have a weaker schedule early now their schedules are at least on par with some who thought the schedules were tough. Everton e was saying Arkansas games a really tough schedule. They do..but no moreso than anyone else. They do t play either Bama or Georgia. Teams like Missouri has a tougher schedule than originally thought. One reaon A and M’s schedule seems softer is because they all have a loss to A and M.

He has always been terrible. This was probably just the straw that broke the camels back.
Auburn is a short drive from Atlanta….Florida not far away. Middle
Of Division one talent hotbed. Large
Fanbase that is passionate and a
Place that wants to be really good with a tradition of winning. Why is it not at least tied with Florida and way ahead of all except PSU and Florida?
No lower than 3…could make an argument for 2
The reason that Tennessee fans or Arkansas are the most vocal when it comes to always putting down Missouri…or you could include their put downs of Ole Miss…is they are afraid these schools are passing them or at least their equal. You do t see nearly the venom from Alabama or Georgia fans. Similar to the most racist people being poor redneck whites.
Strong hate for Missouri. Threatened by them? I think you might have to check further into facilities. You might be wrong. Is Florida really a great more fertile in terms of recruiting ground than Mississippi? I agree some…but there is lots of competition for those players. Mississippi has a lot of D 1 football players.

But you lost to Memphis…doesn’t matter they are undefeated. Using the logic we use with the BIG…who has Memphis beaten? You were destroyed at home by ND. I actually agree Arkansas can be dangerous..but your resume shows otherwise.
Is Oenn State one of those places where any e can go 9 and 3 every year?
Have they ever beaten Tennessee?
I hate Michigan…but if they ain’t a blue blood then no one is. Nebraska isn’t a blue blood. They are a Johnny come lately…they aren’t Oklahoma or Michigan and the few others which include Alabama. Nebraska comp…Florida.
And this thinking is one of a few reasons college football isn’t as fun as it once was. It is still a mythical NC….because teams are selected to make the playoffs…yet we have destroyed regional conferences and rivalries because more money could be made to not have a mythical champion. Bring back mythical NC and bring back the big 8 and the sw conference.
But Missouri’s schedule from here on out is very tough. If SC had been as good early as everyone expected, the schedule looks a little different. Missouri could easily be 7 and 5 or 8 and 4 when all is said and done e and still be a pretty good team. Same with Vandy and Texas. This is why you let it play out before declaring who is good or bad or in between.
