Meaning when they got in a rhythm, they were almost unstoppable, but they were not consistently unstoppable or consistently great.

This is not for obvious names like Maravich, Jackson, Shaq, Barkley, Mashburn, Glass, Houston, Maxwell.

I'll start with a few I saw in person...

Todd Day - Arkansas - saw him put up 41 I believe on LSU
Buck Johnson - Alabama - Don't remember exactly but it was 30 or so
Melvin Turpin - Kentucky - 42 on LSU

Saw him play for the Arkansas Rimrockers in the ABA towards the end of his career. Even in his older age he was still clearly a cut above everyone else.

Unfortunately you could probably put Oliver Miller in that category. Not because he wasn't great, but he was just inconsistent and never seemed to reach what he could've been.

He would shut down Shaq (relatively), then kind of muddle through a few games. He won SECPOTY, so no doubt he was great, but when he was in the zone, there was nobody better.

ETA: O may not fit this thread sonce rhythm is the criteria, more so when he brought his A-game. If he played like he did against UNLV every game, he'd be in the conversation of SEC GOATS.

Neal Walk of UF was a force in the 1960s

I didnt list Vernon Maxwell since he was a cancer in the locker room and wouldnt pay child support....I dont care how good he was. I saw an interview with Norm Sloan, the HC back then after a stint at NC St. He had me rolling on the floor with his stories of recruiting, He didnt mention Maxwell by name but it was obvious he was included in the group that had their hands out for $$.

Back then the NCAA allowed recruiters to take recruits and their "immediate" family members to dinner. He recalled going to a house of a recruit and only 2 or 3 people there,,,,then when they left to have dinner at a pricey restuarant, there appeared 12 folks out of no where

Antonio McDyess the 2nd half of his Sophomore year was unstoppable. Ended up getting drafted #2 overall by the Clippers

I watched a game at Ole Miss where Gerald Glass and Chris Jackson faced off.

I think both had about 40 points.

Maybe 1989?

Elston Turner comes to mind for A&M. Was a good player, but he could go on some epic heaters. Most memorably at Kentucky in 2013, scored 40 in an A&M upset win.

Edit - just realized this said 60s-90s. Whoops

these two and Shaq can't be touched as a trio, but they don't fit the category

Dale Brown - Kentucky

Played second fiddle to Travis Ford and Jamal Mashburn in those early 90s teams but could light it up (particularly from the arc) at times.

This.

And, I'll add one for Ole Miss. He had one of the best single seasons in SEC history and became first NCAA men's player to leave early for the pros.

Johnny "Johnny Reb" Neumann. '70-'71

In his Soph year, he averaged 40.1 ppg, including a career high 63 vs LSU. Then he became the first basketball player to turn pro early.

He was an AA and the SEC Men's BB Player of the Year. He still holds the UM single season scoring record at 923 points.
