my grandfather was the 2nd wave to hit the beaches. He spoke very little about that but did say to me once, when we had them on the run, we didn't stop, I walked over France to Germany

DiMaggio, after his historic 56-game hitting streak was snapped on July 17, 1941, Joe immediately started a new 16-game hitting streak. Combined with the 56 games, this meant he hit safely in 72 out of 73 consecutive games.
but, that one game where he didn't get a hit, Heinz reportedly promised him 10k to endorse their "Heinz 57" products if he could extend his hitting streak to 57 games. However, the streak ended at 56 games on July 17, 1941, costing him the deal.

worked for my grandfather and great uncles, I cut hay, planted tobacco, chopped it, hung it and stripped it. also had to work in the horse stalls, shoving shite, loading it up on the fertilizer spreader and spread it out in parts of the fields. after every storm, had to ride the fences and saw up trees that had fallen.

I have a 5 year old English Mastiff, he is smart but lazy. When he wants these salmon treats, he can do things that make me get wide eyed how smart he can be.
