I guess the way I'm looking at it as being a small margin is...

Allow 3 fewer baserunners per game by either not walking batters or not making errors. About 1 of those 3 will score on average so that would be 1 less run allowed.

Get 3 more baserunners on base per game and score some of them by hitting for a higher average and/or hitting for more power and/or with runners in scoring position. About 1 of those 3 will score on average so that would be 1 more run scored.

The difference is roughly 6 net baserunners per game to overcome a 2 run scoring margin. (There are dozens of variables to produce the outcome, but 6 baserunners (hitting and pitching/defense) in 9 innings is doable - hopefully next season).
Georgia is 20-6 and 1st. LSU is 9-17 and 14th.
11 game difference.

Here are comparative stats over the 26 SEC games.

Runs scored

Georgia = 201 or 7.73 per game
LSU = 175 or 6.73 per game

A 1.00 run difference per game.

Runs allowed

Georgia = 151 or 5.81 per game
LSU = 182 or 7.00 per game

A 1.19 run difference per game.

Net scoring (runs scored - runs allowed)

Georgia = 201 - 151 = 50 or 1.92 per game
LSU = 175 - 182 = -7 or -0.27 per game

A 2.19 run difference per game.

LSU walks allowed by pitching = 154 (tied for 15th (last) and 10 more than 14th; more than double of what 1st and 2nd teams have).

LSU wild pitches = 46 (last and 9 more than 15th; 5 times more than 1st team)

LSU unearned runs allowed = 22 (last and more than double of what top 4 teams have).

Extra baserunners due to walks and errors, extra bases taken on wild pitches are what lead to allowing more runs.

Georgia's overall pitching is not much better than LSU's other than fewer walks and much fewer wild pitches.

Georgia hits and slugs at a much higher level (1st in OPS at .938) which overcomes their average pitching. LSU hitting is above average in the SEC this year (5th in OPS at .814) but would have to be 2023-like to overcome the poor pitching control and fielding.

Thanks for the explanation.

I only fly a few times a year but I did once have a diversion to Austin on a flight from MSY to DAL.

A storm popped up quickly over Dallas and sat there after we had taken off. We circled somewhere over east Texas for about 30 minutes or so and ended up having to land in Austin and refuel before continuing.

If you don’t walk or hit the batter, the defense has a chance to make plays.

You dont fly much do you

thank you

Today’s flight was in the air 3 hours 15 minutes. Yesterday’s flight for the same source and destination was in air 2 hours 12 minutes. These are from the flight logs.

I know you are a pilot so you know what that means fuel wise. An extra hour of flying on what is normally a little over 2 hour flight is significant. That is all I was trying to say.

I’m sure they weren’t on fumes but did burn much more fuel than normal.
I’m talking about flying time. Or at least gate to gate time.

Had some hail in that supercell that just passed through MSY.

Still a little possible hail near River Ridge but moving slowly away from airport.
You’re on Delta from Minneapolis aren’t you?

This will be my 7th without my mother. It gets a little easier each year but is still tough.

Tonight - no rain

Tomorrow night - 20% chance after 8 PM EDT

Sunday afternoon - 30% chance

Best thing is that winds will be very light, and what little wind there is will be from the SW (in from right field).

Drone video of Bogue Chitto destruction. It's bad. Only two or three mobile homes and one shed were not destroyed.

Reed confirmed that on his stream. Prentiss up next.
Timmer is heading south onto MS 27 from US 84 to try an intercept.
