Tua won't be a good NFL QB.

Tell me about the UF QBs who were good in the NFL I'm guessing Reaves is the only one to hit 10k passing yard, but Grossman may be around there too.

I don't understand why elite QBs with NFL aspirations play at Alabama. You have the best offensive linemen and the best WRs in the country. You don't have to face much adversity.

He's going to be a top 3 draft pick and make a shitload of money

John Parker Wilson
Greg McElroy
AJ McCarron
Blake Sims
Jacob Coker
Jalen Hurts
Tua Tagovailoa

Those are the primary starting QBs Saban has gone with since arriving at Alabama in 2007. How many of those were considered elite by NFL scouts?
I think he means out of HS...

Dating back to Star Jackson, Alabama has had a ton of “elite” HS quarterbacks sign there. Even some 5* guys. Blake Barnett, Tua, Phil Sims, Cooper Bateman, David Cornwell, etc.

AJ McCarron was the epitome of a mediocre QB surrounded by insane talent. It was a complete joke he was drafted as high as he was, and an even bigger joke he was considered for the Heisman. One of the most overrated players in CFB history, IMO.

And I don’t think Blake Sims gets the notoriety he should. What he and Lane Kiffin did together was nothing short of amazing. The same thing can be said for a true freshman in Jalen Hurts.

Blake Sims is my favorite football player in Alabama history

Starters in the nfl at QB? Name them

Greg McElroy and AJ McCarron both started games in the NFL.

Not to mention QBs for Saban at LSU and Michigan State that also did.

JPW was a tough sumbitch.

Blake.......I mean the guy was a running back. What Kiffin did with him, and the guts he played with, and the way he did absolutely whatever the staff asked him to do (backup RB one week, 3rd string QB another, wide receiver another)..........I've never felt better for a kid than him. And he was just so happy and excited and grateful. It was really awesome.

You've got it backwards. The NFL should be looking at ways it can improve by becoming more like college football.

I’ll never forget his deep ball against Florida to Kenyan Drake.

Let’s be honest, neither are starters in the nfl and only started because of injuries to the guy ahead of them. I honestly don’t even remember Greg being in the league more than a year. I think the OP was referencing guys saban has coached at Bama, not other schools.

It helps them get rich though.

And I’m speaking strictly about what they make in the NFL, not what they’re bringing in while at Bama.

All because Kiffin drew something up to trick Florida into motioning out a LB into 1-on-1 against Drake. Everything going into that game was whether Blake could throw the ball down the field and Kiffin drew something up for play #1 to do it.

I miss that mother fricker (Kiffin) (Blake too).

The NFL and College are kind of 2 different games. The QB's best suited for the pro game have not always been big winners in college.

Tua would have been much better served at a school where he was forced to win games because his defense sucked

Sucked is a strong word, but last year's defense was the worst of the CNS era.

Tua, even injured, won several games for Bama simply by breaking spirits early. Had past game managers been in the game, there would have been several more close games, as confidence grew over 4 qtrs and OCs picked on weaknesses and tendencies

He, and Bama, ran into trouble with UGA and Clemson when teams didnt fold after getting punched in the mouth.

Savion Smith, from the first play of the Ole Miss game on, was a glaring weakness. Clemson exploited him and a safety mismatch with Ross all night.

Also had the weakest ILB play of the last 20+ years.

Tua is blessed with a lot of weapons, but his talent, confidence and drive are Farve like... both the good and the bad.

Love having a player like him at QB. I've never seen it in my lifetime.

With the coaching changes and experience growth on the D, I like Alabama to do very well this season.

They have between 44 to 16 reasons to stay focused.

Tua is not hurt by any means playing for Saban and Bama. He is the Russell Wilson with a bit more threat on the ground. He will do well.

I think Tua is a great player, but he’s not Russell Wilson as a passer or runner. Wilson is elite in the nfl and hasn’t had any great receivers to throw to. Tua is surrounded by great players all over the field. His job is a tad bit easier.

Reaves has less yards than Spurrier and Shane Matthews in his pro career
Grossman has the most yards among QBs from Florida and over 10k

McCarron was the closest he ever came.

It already has, and is basically there
You never saw formations in the NFL like you did today
You also rarely saw teams take chances on air raid system players like Mahomes, Murray, Mayfield or Goff.

Well now all those guys have been top first rounders.
In 3 of their cases #1 overall
