No, you don’t.

What you remember is Greg McElroy claiming he was a better pro prospect than Cam Newton and a bunch of Alabama fans, myself included, defending his attitude if not his opinion.

He proved enough to be a backup QB for another 5-7 years. Probably good in the QB room, competent enough to come off the bench and do game manager stuff in the event the starter gets hurt.

Pretty decent gig.

Best gig in the entire league. Matt Flynn will attest to that.

Tua is better now and will be a better pro than McCarron. I don't think anyone would disagree there.

Yea, absolutely.

And great call on Matt Flynn - perfect example of that type of guy. Matt Barkley, Drew Stanton, Chad Henne, Chase Daniel other examples.

Yeah that's his overall stats from that entire regular season. In the playoff game you mentioned he went 21-43 for 212 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. Also had 3 fumbles.

ETA: He also had 2 fumbles in the regular season.

Tua is one of the best SEC QBs of all time and will be taken in the top 5 of the draft.

Marquis Maze and Darius Hanks were two of his primary receivers during his time at Alabama.
Marquis Maze and Darius Hanks were his receivers for one year he started. 2011.

And he was as mediocre as you can get that year. Literally nothing more than a game manager that piggybacked the defense and running game to the BCSNC.

Congrats on him still being employed as a career backup. Third team in 3 years. Just a matter of time before he washes out.

He absolutely will. He, like anybody else, needs to go to the best fit for success. He just needs to prove he can stay injury free. And he needs to stop going for the kill shot every play. Clemson and Georgia feasted on that.

A check down is still a win in most cases. He will learn that.

Health and that right there are the 2 biggest things that need to be shown in 2019 for him personally (and would be helpful for us as a team, too). Will be interesting to watch.

219-328 (66.8%) 2,634 yards 16 TDs 5 INTs

If that's mediocre to you then you're obviously not very intelligent.

Oh, but he was piggybacking off an elite defense, a power running game, and a top shelf oline all the way to the NC game.

I'd damn sure happy to have a HC that can adjust to the evolution of the game, surround his QB with players that know what the hell they are doing and execute at a top level and have the ability to take the pressure off the QB.

Tua is not better than mccarron. Aj put us in the right play, never turned it over and was accurate as frick. When he was on the field he was in charge and he was going to move the team. Pick up first downs, let loose a bomb when u didn't expect it. Tua will have better stats but I'll take aj any day of the week. Best to ever play at Bama.

AJ redshirted a year and had a better O-Line.

But I do agree in the sense that Tua needs to bring those things AJ did in terms of playing smart. He didn't really make that many mistakes, it was more about timing.

If he can't make it through Bama's schedule or not fold in big games then he will never make it against a NFL schedule.

One of the dumbest comments I’ve ever read on this message board and I don’t mean just the SEC Rant.

I know. He hit 1 TD after giving up a 15 yard sack. He didn't get Bama there and last year he folded against the top teams he played.

This year we get to see him without anyone to come save the day for him.
