On a serious note...

Why would Oklahoma want to do that? They lose their coldstone lock of the century for a conference title and near yearly CFP berth. The only way I can see it being a good thing for them is if Texas bolts on their own, but why would Texas want to leave?

Texas bends the Big 12 over whenever they want to, so they really have no reason to leave.

I’d love this.

Would give Arkansas a natural rival game again.

Maybe this would push Bama and Auburn to the East as well

Now we really shouldn't do this

I bet they add OU to the West and Texas East, if this grows legs, it will be fun to see them fight for the East spot

I think it's official, Texas needs TAMU.

So what happens the Longhorn Network?

That's always been the deal-breaker for Texas joining a major conference.

I don’t believe it.

The only way this makes any sense is if it's a first step in realignment to super-conferences.

I think to realistically move to an eight-team playoff, we'd almost need to go this super-conference route, with four conferences of 16 teams (top 64). You'd have to somehow otherwise equalize the schedules, IMO, and have divisional champions maybe with wildcards, like the NFL.

(Those outside of the 64 could have their own deal, or still play somewhere in the bowl system.)

They probably won't admit it, but this is nightmare fuel for A&M

In fact, I'm pretty sure one of their prominent posters told me a few years ago that suggesting this as a possibility would be the best way to truly troll the Ags.

There was always pressure after A&M opened Texas to the SEC. Texas & OU still recruit well in state, but we’ve had to compete with the SEC West for a majority of our recruits. This shifts the Texas recruiting scene back in favor of Texas & OU.

Sounds like they are trying to grab more power for themselves in the Big 12 to me. Why would they come to the SEC and be one of 16 teams when they pretty much run that league and have a lot of pull and power there. Not to mention OU won’t be winning the SEC every year like they do out in the Big 12. This has to be some kind of power play or something.

A&M was just starting to become competitive in the West too, that’s unfortunate.

This is great! Aggie's dad will be joining the conference!

The SEC gets more money but a lot more headaches. It’s not worth it.

Does it? You're competing with the SEC West (LSU and ALabama) because they win more than Texas does, not just because those schools are in the SEC and Texas/OU aren't. Your state has a ton of football players. Good football players are attracted to schools that win more. LSU has been recruiting the hell out of that state long before expansion.

UT and OU will get whatever is leftover after LSU and Alabama take what they want from that state, as usual

You say this as if SECW programs weren't successfully recruiting Texas prior to 2012. Hint: they were.
