I don't know if it makes sense for them. But I have to think that if this was being considered, then the expanded playoff on the horizon made it more attractive for both.

Inside Texas Twitter - Story confirmation
I said earlier today that there was no chance of this happening.. but it guess it isn’t 0%.

But.. if we are playing this game.. what about these pods?

Texas
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Missouri

LSU
A&M
Ole Miss
Miss State

Alabama
Auburn
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky

I do like these pods with a 9 game schedule..

Play your pod each year - 3
Play 2 from each other pod - 6

Play each team in conference twice (home & away) every 4 years.. This is best system imo, regardless if this happens or not. Even if you added Oklahoma State & TCU.. this would be a great system.

Naw just put Bama and Auburn in East.

Put Texas and OU in West along with Mizzou where they all belong

So many questions. Does the West lobby to rotate the SECCG to Nola every other year?

I’ve been hearing this from a friend of mine for a couple of months. He says that ESPN hates that network so much that they are willing to pay to break the contract. He also said this was gonna lead to Texas and ok joining the sec. it could all be bs, but evidently the story got little more wheels.

Sounds like they are trying to grab more power for themselves in the Big 12 to me.

Interesting theory. When do TCU and WVU start taking full shares of Big 12 revenue? I know they got partial payments for a while since they were new (and the Big 12 has shitty tv deals).

Very believable to me that OU and UT are posturing to get bigger slices of the conference revenue again.

Or opens it up to more of the eastern SEC schools

Can we discuss how freaking awesome the baseball would be? Yes, even better than it already is..

Ignore everything else and I would do it for this reason alone..

What they are leaving out is the secret negotiations that Okie State is coming with and the fighting Jimbo's are getting ejected.

It’s happening because the NCAA is about to go belly-up and all the power will reside with the conferences. Sankey verbally bitchslapped Emmert at media days and pretty much hinted at the independence movement that’s coming.

The SEC will be the first and likely most successful in the way it goes down, so they are trying to hop on board before they become competitively irrelevant in the new landscape

So that means LSU might not play Tennessee until around 2050?

Does it? You're competing with the SEC West (LSU and ALabama) because they win more than Texas does, not just because those schools are in the SEC and Texas/OU aren't. Your state has a ton of football players. Good football players are attracted to schools that win more. LSU has been recruiting the hell out of that state long before expansion.

this is correct. Top schools have always recruited in Texas. I am not sure why people keep repeating this wrong narrative from Austin.

So Texas drags its nutless sack after big brother and begging for attention. Because of Herman and Strong your trench recruiting is behind about 5 years and all the high level skill positions in the world can't help you.
The west would run a train on your asses for a few years.

There was always pressure after A&M opened Texas to the SEC. Texas & OU still recruit well in state, but we’ve had to compete with the SEC West for a majority of our recruits. This shifts the Texas recruiting scene back in favor of Texas & OU.

You say this as if SECW programs weren't successfully recruiting Texas prior to 2012. Hint: they were.

I wish our move hadn't opened Texas up to Ohio State.
