They are being punished for scheduling Texas on the road in week 2 when everyone else was playing Eastern Missouri Tech.
I could understand if they were blown out instead of losing by 1.
So their only real loss was on the road vs USC with a true freshman QB making his first start.

And this has them ranked 12th, far below Indiana who they beat in Bloomington?

Make it make sense.

They lost their QB...no one expect much else from them. No need to rank them any higher

There's your easy answer. Hey to FSU a couple of years ago.

they aren't getting screwed. Nobody thinks they are good with their current QB and that is what the voting reflects.

No, Ohio St is getting the "Florida St" treatment because their starting star QB is out the rest of the season and the backup is horrible. So they aren't anywhere near the same team that they were. They better be glad they're even still in the top 12. The injury materially changed the quality of their team and how good they are.

Yes they are, and we got screwed last year with the exact same logic. Now they lost their QB so that might factor in slightly but you are 100% correct OSU could have played a nobody in OOC like UCLA, Indiana, Utah, Wake Forest, ( I could go on) but instead played Texas, lost on the road by 1 point and that loss is really hurting them when they easily would have been 7-1 had they followed the same path as the above teams.

This board doesnt follow logic so you will get downvoted to eternity here, I made this argument last year nonstop and the Texas haters couldnt get past their disdain for Texas to see logic.

And?

This same committee punished Florida State for WINNING with their 1st, 2nd and 3rd string QBs. They better punish Ohio State for losing with their 2nd string QB. Fair is fair. Stick to the same logic you used to rob a 13-0 FSU of making the playoffs.

That’s apples and oranges. 4 team playoff very different than 12 team and agin SoS was not the same at all that year. They also barely squeezed out their conf title against a terrible team in the ACC and the writing was on the wall as opt outs or not they were exposed in the UGA game.

OSU will probably get in as their 4 remaining games are against lesser opponents (lesser this year anyway) and 3 are at home. BUT, they did lose to a middling USC team because of their QB situation. Lincoln Riley acted like they beat the 72 Dolphins. Had Sayin been under center most likely a different outcome. So yes, being penalized for the QB situation.
