How will this balance out with Title IX requirements? if a school gives millions of dollars in salary to football players, do they not then have to do the same with women athletes?
What I want to see is how the colleges that don't have football handles it. Or a school like duke. Iam thinking that those schools will offer more money on basketball. UConn already has been dominant and their football team is non-existent. So Iam thinking if there is a cap, will be harder to compete with them in basketball.
Also if player x is getting a million a year, they should pay for their own tuition. But it might keep players that are not top 2 rounds in the draft staying for their senior year. Either to enhance their draft status or just making more money then they would in the NFL.

I think it makes NIL even more important. If the schools are all offering the same rates on average, the publicity/endorsement deals can provide an edge.

Probably be similar to a class action lawsuit. After they spread it out, you'll probably get $5.
But good luck.

Between a TV network and a state government who do you think will win?
When the state of Texas revokes their licenses to broadcast in the state, how soon do they cave when they are unable to broadcast in five of the top 20 most populated cities?

Schools will license the branding to a private entity and that same entity will lease on campus facilities for games.
This is the future.
This is the de facto present. We’re just formalizing arrangements.

College athletes ipso facto amateur athletes
Common sense they don't get cash.
Ncaa guilty of a retro 2 billion is sick
Usa gone to hell and not back

Yes, I am done as of this morning when I found out about this crap. Athletes as employees do not represent my school. All the athletes are now going to be nothing more than paid mercenaries. I canceled my YouTube TV this morning.

roughly $20 million per year with its athletes.
Means it’s a self-regulated market now.
Schools will have binding contracts directly with players to limit transfers and tampering.

The great divide is officially on. The haves are about to separate themselves from the have-nots in every way, shape, or form.
Whatever it takes to get there.

Strange take. It's called being in the work force. You act like the CEO doesn't make a lot more than the workers do. I guess we need to move straight to communism where EVERYBODY makes the same without taking the risk.
Also, I'm sure the government is LOVING this idea as well. Wait until the players get to see how much the government actually takes from them being an EMPLOYEE of the school. I'm not exactly sure, but will there even be scholarships anymore and will athletes even be required to have a GPA?

Every for profit organized sport in the United States has a league with cap limits.
If they don't have a cap in college football it will be be unwatchable and I might as well just watch NFL at that point

To be honest, the 1970s... when NFL salaries got big enough to where NFL became the incentive for players... it really started to change. By the 1980s we certainly had boatloads of guys who weren't in college to "play school"...
In fact, I'd go back to the NFL/AFL bidding wars as to where this all started.

Oh don’t worry, it’s coming very soon.
