The NCAA and its five power conferences have agreed to allow schools to directly pay players for the first time in the 100-plus-year history of college sports.

The NCAA and its leagues are planning to alert plaintiffs' attorneys Thursday that they are prepared to move forward with a multibillion-dollar agreement to settle three pending federal antitrust cases, sources told ESPN. The NCAA will pay more than $2.7 billion in damages over 10 years to past and current athletes, according to sources. Sources said the parties also have agreed to a revenue-sharing plan allowing each school to share up to roughly $20 million per year with its athletes.

I think it makes NIL even more important. If the schools are all offering the same rates on average, the publicity/endorsement deals can provide an edge.

100000%

The next lawsuit to follow is telling schools they are capped at 20MM.

That shite is not gonna fly in the state of Texas. Schools will pay what ever the frick they want and you can’t do anything about it.

This is a free market economy.

There is no collective bargaining agreement in place.

I know it’s always been in bad taste to boo a college kid as an amateur. But I know feel some of these kids are gonna get ripped in half by fans and the media because they can’t take the pressure.

And if they are getting paid 200-500k, they better get ready for accountability.

Yes, but a contract means we don't have players leaving every year.

That's an upgrade.

Great. Good luck when the networks don't air your games and you're not playing the teams that agree to play by the rules.

That money will dry up real fast.

Seems like what they are trying to do.

I think there are about 20 -30 teams that could pay up to 20M a year for rosters.

And about 5-7 who could pay well over that.

A&M and Texas have that money.
