re: Whic SEC team will be the first to lose?
Posted by 49 to nada on 8/6/26 at 10:56 pm to Rodo
Any SEC team losing week one needs to step down and get some MACtion.
Week 2 is where things get interesting, or at least for those of us who don't feast on multiple cupcakes back to back in ooc.

That's no real achievement. One can draw major backlash from the left by simply looking at one of them the wrong way.
re: Most gut wrenching loss you were in attendance for

I wasn't personally in attendance, (who goes to Lubbock if you arent passing through on the way to Colorado?) but 08 game vs Tortilla Tech.
If one of two things happen I honestly think we go on to the NC game and win the thing:
Michael Crabtree doesn't score
Blake Gideon hangs on to his easy INT
Doh!

Sumrall isn't going to flip out like Muschamp does. Muschamp was doing the drill sergeant look stuff at practice sometimes and on the sidelines in some games. That won't work too good with these players getting paid now.

It's like he's cosplaying as some tough guy head coach while his all time record against ranked opponents is abysmal. So glad we dodged that bullet. His entire demeanor looks completely fake... like he's acting more than naturally being a coach.

They teach history at Texas? North Carolina was one of the seceding states.
He doesn't want Texas, aggy, pig or Mizzery in the SEC because we aren't "Southeast", yet North Carolina is somehow?

I just want teams from the Southeast!!!
Mizzou, Ark, Texas and TAM are not Southeast.
Replace them with Tulane, Ga Tech, FSU, Clemson, North Carolina, NC State.

quote:Of course if doesn't mean as much to us since we've only been in the SEC a hot minute, but I think most Texas fans would cherish the SECCG a lot more if the playoffs were still just 4 teams. Since the expansion to 12 (and likely 16 or 24 soon) and ND getting a special deal with the CFB playoff committee, anyone playing a conference championship game is simply gaining more wear and tear on the starters not to mention potential injuries, and that goes for the winner of the conference as well. Since we already have 9 conference games do we really need another meeting (which most years could be a rematch) that only weakens the top two SEC teams?
So glad Texas in the conference but it’s seems many of you Texas fans don’t want the SEC title game. I was at the first game with Florida in 1992. I’m one of those who values that game. I would not want to see it go.

Gotta go with Georgia here.
We're talking about a middle of the pack Big12 team, maybe one of the G5's gifted a playoff spot, a Pac team? Those would be out of left field..
re: SECCG meetings you’re surprised never happened?
Posted by 49 to nada on 8/5/26 at 8:50 pm to MizzouTrue
aggy never sniffing the SECCG in spite of 12 years in the league and consistently high pre-season rankings for at least 11 of those?
Not really that surprised, but wow

re: How does a HC with 2 playoff wins rank #46 out of 50 for top HC?

Same way a coach with zero actual playoff wins is ranked just above a coach who has 3?

Yes, I know my own school benefits from that nonsense as well, but still..

I've resigned myself to having to learn large chunks of the roster every single season.
I suggest OP and others do the same and just roll with the changes. The simple fact is roughly half the players on your roster for any given year won't be there for the next, and that will sometimes include some highly rated recruits that never saw the field wearing your school colors.
Tis what tis, can't do anything now that SCOTUS blew up the whole "amateur" thing a few years back.

Take away wins over non P4 Little sisters of the poor programs and rank again.
Double takeaway if any of those wins were over FCS programs. Lolz

Posting about a regular season game against 2 middle to lower of the pack sec teams (neither are your team) is pretty pathetic.
They can't help but hate us more than they love themselves, it's in the aggy DNA.

I don't have a problem with the nine-game conference schedule. It should have been that way 10 years ago. What I do have a problem with, however, is Sankey mandating that we all play at least one OOC P4 team when the Committee has indicated that they only care about W/L and not SOS.
We screwed ourselves by scheduling tOSU in addition to the 9 conference games. Sure if we beat the suckeyes it will mean a huge jump in poll ranking, but at what cost if we lose a couple starters for the season with injuries? Meanwhile * insert SEC team * is playing Southwestern Delaware School of plumbing and custodial arts the same week thereby giving their starters a break and a chance for younger players to get some game experience.
Yes, it's self inflicted, but OOC games are scheduled many years in advance.

It definitely isn't what it used to be, and my frame of reference is the late 90's/ early 2k's.
19 year old me got lit up by a cop for driving the wrong way through a closed Zilker Park at 11pm, and doing it in a bright red 300ZX with my drunk roomie in the lone passenger seat and a (thankfully unopened) 12 pack of beer visible in the small cargo area behind my seat.
Penalty? Being lectured on how the park was closed and I need to pay attention to one way signs. *Thank you officer!*
I hadn't started drinking yet (we were on our way to a party and my roomie convinced me to pull in Zilker so he could piss behind a tree) but even so there is no way college kids of 2026 face a cool APD officer like that. Back then it was understood college kids do dumb things, but the city itself hadn't gotten out of hand yet.
