Jake Fromm
did you just start watching football 4 years ago? That's literally your answer?
He was adequate as a true freshman for what we wanted him to do, was fantastic in 2018 while putting up better numbers than joe burrow, and was absolutely crippled in 2019 by a functioning retard as an OC and WR injuries.
He was a really good, above average college QB that was good enough to win us games. I don't see how he could be overrated, unless you talk to people who think he's the best QB we've ever had. In that case the people you talk to are idiots.

Just a different form of overrated. Blake Barnett fits into the Jeremy Johnson category as someone that was hyped before they ever really proved anything. Other guys can be overrated after their college career is over
I just don't see how Hurts could be over-rated more.
Nobody pretends he is some great passer or anything. But he is a guy who is a leader, does things the right way, and makes the people around him better.
Meanwhile, people were claiming Barnett should have been starting over Coker.

There is a large portion of UGA fans and media that legitimately think he’s the best QB in modern UGA football history.
ETA: who’s a better answer?

JPW'S natural position was flat on his back.

Russell Sheppard maybe? It’s possible he was just misused, but he’s our highest rated QB recruit ever (247sports), our second highest overall recruit ever (Fournette), and these are his LSU career passing numbers:
0 for 0, for 0 yards and 0 TDs
He bounced from RB (FR) to WR (SO-SR) and averaged less than 200 yards receiving a year.
Arguably that’s just Miles being Miles, but he’s my choice.

John Parker Wilson was a grey shirt 3-star. He was far from overrated.

JPW was a good QB and took the team through the transition. And he was tough as nails. Tyler Watts is the answer. He was supposed to be the next thing. He was a good runner, ran the option well, and ended the horrible drought against Tennessee. But he was a total noodle arm. Couldn’t throw the ball thirty yards. The worst thing was he took snaps away from Andrew Zow who actually was a good QB.

Keihl Frazier or Jeremy Johnson way more than Bo.

Christian LeMay or Bryce Ramsey

Buck Belue because he was in fact a very mediocre passer, but he's probably not the most overrated because no one remembers Buck Belue for being a dynamic quarterback.
He was 1at team all SEC his senior year and led the conference in QBR
IDK about "dynamic" (hard to do in Dooley's offense) but he certainly was very solid and I'm not sure why his name is brought up so much when the subject of "overrated" QB's come up.

Will Rogers. Seems like a lot of State folks have big expectations for him, but I don’t see it. He’s ok.

Drew Lock. Heralded for stats. Never elevated his game when it counted. Never won anything at Missouri.

LSU answer would have to be Ryan Perrilloux.
Love the guy and he actually did OK in a system not designed for him, but Tyler Russell would be mine for State. It is unfair considering the hype and system he inherited, but after slaying South Panola he was the savior to save State. Dude would've killed it at LSU, Bama, UGA.
Also to be fair on him, we were not used to hyped QBs before him.

For my team, it has to be Blake Barnett or Phillip Sims if you're basing it on recruiting rankings. For guys that actually played, probably Tyler Watts. Tough guy, fit Fran's offense...but not a passer. Kinda similar to Hurts, but without having the elite talent around him.
Ryan Perrilloux and Mitch Mustain though...those two names had massive hype with very little results.

I'm old school, so I have to go with the mid-80's trifecta - all who were at Bama at the same time.
Vince Sutton
Jeff Dunn
Gene Newberry

, i would go with Matt Stafford.
I always though Stafford was underutilized by Richt. That guy could wing it out of the stadium and how many times did y’all really open up the playbook and have him chuck the ball down the field? The 07 game against us was pretty much the only time I ever saw him constantly go deep.
Fromm would be my pick. That guy couldn’t do a damn thing if the running game wasn’t clicking on all cylinders

And the Fromm haters are dumb with the game manager stuff. Fromm made plays. He was a playmaker. When Fromm had a good game, we won. When Fromm had a bad game, we lost.
Fromm for whatever reason was money against us in Jacksonville, other than that, he was beyond mediocre. And cost UGA a national title. Outside of that big pass to Mecole Hardman the second half against Bama was one of the most colossal meltdowns by a QB in a big game ever.
