Screwed Over Attempting a Good Deed

Ever happened to you?
Years ago, I was preparing to put my boat in the water after having work done on it. I was at the marina where I normally dry stored it and I wanted to check it out in the water before putting it up in storage.
It was late in the day and the storage was about to to close. A guy came up while I was prepping and looked desperate. He said he had left his lights on and needed a jump and there was no one around to help. He said he needed to leave in a hurry for some appointment. I told him I needed to get my boat in the water, run it to make sure the repairs were good, and get it back in time to put it in storage.
He walked off and went to the office and no one was there. As I watched him walk off, I yelled to him and told him to come back. I always bring a small battery jumper with me just in case my boat doesn’t start. I told him he could use it and just put it in the bed of my truck while I was out running my boat. He thanked me profusely and said he would.
I took my boat for a 5 minute run and when I got back, I didn’t see him or his vehicle. As you can guess, he did not put the jumper in my truck bed.
Its crap like this that makes you wary to help people.

Just pee in it and if you don’t see a color change, you’re good.

“Like” to millennials is the same as “you know” to boomers.

Good riddance. His undisciplined attack of an LSU player was indicative of the culture under Napier. May have been a good coach, but you need the whole package. See Sherrone Moore

Worked a plant during a startup and we had just hired new operators that had just completed their initial training classes. On a cold night, I asked one of my operators to go to the building next door to get a metric crescent wrench from another supervisor. He caught on quick and told her he had just loaned it to guys way across the plant. After getting there she realized she had been duped. She came back and yelled at me initially, but laughed afterwards.
In my younger years when you didn’t have to worry too much about sexual harassment, we had this hot older redhead that always dressed to the nines. She liked to tell jokes and didn’t mind dirty ones. One time when she had on a short dress, I had her stand up, turn her back to me, put her hands on her knees, look back at me and told her to spell “Run” three times. She stopped after the second time with a red face and started laughing. I wish in reality I could have put it in

You obviously never went to the infield at Talladega
You and I would have gone to jail first before having the option to pay it back
I have a lab beagle mix that has white fur on the tips of 3 paws, under the chin, and on the chest. He has web toes and does a pointer pose when he takes a pi$$. I wouldn’t trade him for anything

re: Koura Plant St. Gabriel - 1 dead, 1 injured - Hydroflouric Acid Exposure
Posted by Kirby59 on 11/20/25 at 7:36 am to Icansee4miles
I worked at Daikin in Decatur, AL in the mid 90’s. Shortly after I left, they had an explosion where operators open a valve of fully pressurized tetrafluoroethylene ( monomer used to make Teflon) into a tank that had residual air, causing a chain reaction and explosion. The lead operator was killed instantly by a flange hitting him, but two other operators were burned severely and inhaled HF and died excruciating deaths about 24 hours later. I knew the two operators well and one of them hired in the same day I did. I heard several stories about shortcuts taken that resulted in the incident, but won’t repeat them since they can’t be verified. They have had other issues there as well. Glad I left when I did.
I also worked at the Mitsubishi plant in Mobile that used 49% Hydrofluoric acid (if it’s 50% or greater, it can’t be shipped by truck) used to etch polysilicon used in the semiconductor industry.
I was very fortunate not to have any exposure myself or my employees at the time I was there. We did have calcium glucinate gel at home to rub on our skin if we felt we had been exposed.
One important thing we were told if we ever went to the hospital with a potential exposure was to tell the staff we were exposed to “HF” and not “Hydrofluoric acid.” Apparently someone had said “Hydrofluoric acid” and the staff heard “Hydrochloric acid” and the treatments are totally different. They never said what the final outcome was for that person.
