I think Auburn's OT loss to South Florida in 2007 is more embarrassing than the loss to UCF. If nothing else, in 2017 Auburn was deflated from losing the SECCG and not being in the playoff. USF was game #2 of the season.

I would also think Tenn losing to Wyoming in Neyland in 2008 would be on that list.

Losing to USF in 2007 kind of sucked

Yes The Citadel was a terrible loss, but we lost by 1 and got screwed on a horrible call in that game IIRC. Also, it's bad to lose to The Citadel but they're still an option team and that's a pain in the arse for most teams. Not the most embarrassing on the list by a long shot.

It was more embarrassing that we tore the goalposts down after beating New Mexico State in 2000.

Great minds

I was at that USF game. It was a little surreal to lose that game and think the season was over before it even began

Troy over LSU

Since 1980?

No.

1981, 6-5 Tulane, 7-48
1982, 4-7 Tulane, 28-31
1986, 8-4 Miami (Ohio), 12-21
1992, 5-7 Colorado State, 14-17
1999, 7-4 Houston, 7-20
2000, 7-4 UAB, 10-13

...were all worse than, 2017, 11-2 Troy, 21-24.

I havne't read 4 pages, but this one has absolutely zero business being on the list.

-we were coming off a losing season
-we were ranked 19th coming into the game and they were ranked 5th
-they were FAVORED in the game
-boise was ranked as high as 4th that season and finihsed ranked 8th

the only reason to call it "embarrasing" is because of the name on their helmets. That was a damn good football team. Now...when we played in 2005 and we had the much better team (we won by ~30 btw) if we had lost, THAT would qualify. But this one doesn't. Most of the other ones you listed are shitty teams like ULM or citadel beating teams that they absolutely shouldn't have beaten.

But there's no way Bama could possibly drop off after Saban.

(1) Program is better than it was in 1996
(2) We aren't currently looking at crippling probation, led alone 2 of them in 7 years
(3) We probably won't hire Mike Dubose

But other than that, yes, lots of parallels. We'll be back to 4-8 in no time Rabern!

I admire the way you converse with Orange & Blue GusBuser's.

Actually, our uniforms were pretty embarrassing that game.

This would be a terrible loss at any time but between njuries, a bitterly divided fan base, a widely mocked coaching hire and the upcoming meat of an SEC schedule the conditions were ripe for collapse after Troy. O's performance in keeping an uneven and injury-riddled team focused and believing in themselves took me from lukewarm wait-and-see mode to white-hot shrimp boat Captain fanhood. The team rebounded with a tough road win over an admittedly overrated #21 FL, maintained the home winning streak over #10 Auburn after going down 20 in the first half, then manhandled #24 Ole Miss in Oxford. I don't think many coaches could have brought a team back from the abyss the Tigers were staring into following Troy. All that will be remembered is that LSU lost to Troy but Ed Orgeron became a great coach in 2017.

The MOST embarrassing loss has to be one of either USC losing to The Citadel or MSU losing to Maine. Has to be.

But Dabo said Citadel was one of the toughest teams they played that season.

I think you're thinking of the game that Auburn had to go to OT to hold off Jax St.

That was the most humiliating loss of the Mark Richt era. If he had gotten fired in the locker room after that game, I wouldn't have had an issue with it.

Definitely our worst OOC loss. There is definitely not another one that is worse than that. Definitely not.

How about this one...in 1958 UT lost to Chattanooga and over 1000 UT fans took it so poorly they rioted and had to have tear gas shot at them.
