We lost to Arkansas in 2011.
We stopped doing that when we joined the SEC 8 years ago.

Let me tell you about that Maine loss in 2004.
Those Jacksonville State teams that pulled the upset over Ole Miss and nearly beat Auburn were contenders for the FCS title. Not this Maine team. They were 5-6 in something called the Northeast Conference.
You may be thinking it was bad, but it was worse than that. It was Croom's first year. The previous year we were 2-10, there was hope for turnaround with Croom at the helm. He won the first game against Tulane - a team that had beaten us in the infamous "Thanks for the check" game the year prior.
Auburn destroyed us, but that was a 13-0 Auburn team so no one expected us to win. Here came the mighty Maine Black Bears.
We looked awful from the start. It was a sign of things to come - Croom's offense was a disaster but the defenses were okay. We could not have scored on air that night. Somehow we managed a touchdown in the first quarter and that looked to be the only score of the night.
We had four turnovers in the Maine red zone. It looked as if we were going to win an ugly 7-0 game. Then it happened. Another turnover. Maine got the ball and kicked a field goal. Whew. 7-3. We're alright.
Then they got the ball back and went into a two minute offense and it looked like John Elway was running it. They scored a touchdown and I honestly think they were so excited that they botched the XP and won 9-7.
That same team won two SEC games - beating Kentucky and Florida - which led to the firing of Zook and the term "Croomed"

ULM over Alabama
Since you went back to 1980, this isn't the right answer.
That 2007 ULM team was no world beater, but it did finish 6-6. At the time of the game Alabama was unranked and 2 games into what would be a 4 game losing streak.
In 1981, 2nd ranked and eventual SEC co-champion (tied with UGA at 8-0 in conference) Alabama lost to Georgia Tech.
The game was Alabama's only regular season loss. It was Georgia Tech's only win
That right there...

Without a doubt for LSU it's Miami of Ohio in '86. I was 11 and still remember walking out of the stadium with a 21-12 loss.

The Citadel over SCAR
The Citadel was probably a better team than SC in 2015. SC went 3-9, while the Citadel won two games in FCS playoffs. Also, SC had an interim coach.

San Jose St. was, by far, the worst loss in program history.
I thought you guys once lost to the Citadel.
Yes indeed. Arkansas lost to The Citadel in their first year in the SEC, 1992.

If you want to call UCF the National Champs that year, then you don't need to make fun of the half dozen of bull shite Alabama "national titles".
Umm, that was UCF's false claim just like Alabama's false claims.

The MOST embarrassing loss has to be one of either USC losing to The Citadel or MSU losing to Maine. Has to be.
More embarrassing than YOUR loss to The Citadel?

Rutgers over Arkansas x2
North Texas over Arkansas

All of these gotta be tied for 1st.

*I'd exclude TAMU's loss to ULL since TAMU was in the Big 12 at the time.
What’s more surprising is that A&M went TO USL to play this one. I remember hearing this one on the radio (remember those?).
On behalf of the Ags, I will say that USL had Brandon Stokley and Jake Delhomme. The Cajuns finished 5-6 under Brandon Stokley’s dad and former LSU qb, Nelson Stokley.
Another fun fact: Texas A&M’s offensive coordinator at the time was none other than Steve Ensminger.

Georgia Southern over Florida is a personal favorite. If I told you "Georgia Southern won without attempting a single forward pass," you'd probably assume the game was played in 1908.

Utah beating Bama by about 20 in the Sugar Bowl several years ago had to sting.
LSU’s loss to Tulane in 1982 was especially tough. LSU had just beaten FlaSt in the famous Fog Bowl and was Orange Bowl-bound. If I never hear the name Reggie Reginelli again it will be too soon.

Auburn people were happy they lost to UCF and the one handed LB just so they could troll Bama about not being true national Champions. Any time Bama loses to a non power 5 conference team it is embarrassing imho.

Everyone likes to troll with the Troy game. They actually finished that year 11-2 and just outside the top 25. Not something to be proud of, but definitely not the most embarrassing.
Worst was 2000 vs UAB. Saban was coaching and we won the Peach Bowl that season. UAB was 3-4 in CUSA.

IIRC, Saban and the underclass men on that 2000 LSU team all said the players hadn’t bought in to Saban’s process yet by the time UAB upset y’all. That game woke up the team though. Same with Bama players in 2007 ULM upset.
